who is eligible for it?
just a Qn, is the 40% subsidy automatic for citizens once enrolled (Like in POLY tuition grant)
Which 40% subsidy are you talking about? Are you referring to what was just announced in the Budget 2008?

Yeah auto. But you can only use it once. You cannot say, take engineering course. Completed it. Then decided you want to take law course and expect a 40% subsidy again.
good old days are back...Like in pre 2000 years used to pay dirt cheap for poly fees...
This is all the info I know of:
http://www.singaporebudget.gov.sg/speech_p4/p4.html#s1.2
4.30 We will also help Singaporeans who take the initiative to upgrade themselves, by extending subsidies beyond vocational CET. Currently we do not subsidise part time degree programmes. We will now provide subsidies for part-time degree programs at the three publicly-funded universities and UniSIM for those who have not previously benefited from a government-subsidised undergraduate education. Singapore citizens will be able to pay subsidised fees, with the Government meeting 40% of the cost of these programmes.

Based on the above speech extract, I think
1) only Singaporeans qualify
2) you must not have had govt-subsidised undergrad education b4
if u did yr poly subsidised before, are still eligible for the Uni subsidy?

I think yes.
But don't take my word for it. Best to check with the relevant authority.
cause its stated "continuing education" and u need a A level or Poly to enter Uni
Check with MOE lor.
I am quite sure if you did Poly (subsidised) before and never did undergrad (subsidised) before, you can get this 40% subsidy.
But I am a nobody so don't quote me.
Ya. Poly and university both have subsidies even if you take the poly route to uni.
wow.. if that is true, then maybe i can consider studying in uni..

well the issue of affordability maybe made easier but tere is still one more problem left..gaining entry with all the competition from International students
i guess there is still some hope left in the govt..
