Is sheer hard work really as great as it is always made up to be? No doubt we often heard stories of how some people started off with nothing in life but eventually succeeded through hard work and determination. But nobody ever talked about stories where people never made it despite continuous hard work.
What about people who obtain results through their talents and intellect, but yet put in little to no effort at all? After doing nothing and putting in zero effort, do they deserve what they get? Do talents deserve being glorified?
Do getting 'results' in life deserve the hardwork one puts in? How much 'results' deserve how much 'hardwork'? Have we been studying so much that we've forgotten that education is essentially a quest for knowledge, not a quest for results and glory.
One week had pass since the release of A'level results. But now, I wonder. Two years of pain in exchange for two days of excitment. Two years of fun in exchange for two days of disappointment.
I wonder...
talent is a privelige.
got talent no hardwork is the same as eating chicken wings w/o using ur hand.
got hardwork no talent is like tearing the chicken into pieces w/o eating
=.="
talent or not, life is full of challenges...most people with talent would either abuse it or not leave it due to boredom whilst some will find stuff to do within their talent thats challenging to them......
as for those who work hard for things, good luck.......
there are many men i know who has talent in art but they chose a totally different carrier instead......
working hard only end up getting stress and illness, even if u success, you are half dead liao, work smart ya, talent without smart working also end up nothing, talent with smart working goes up high and higher.
But then whether u work hard, work smart or with talent, u certainly need abit of luck, opportunity and networking.
you need to know how to por pp, and thats a talent...
Talented pple have photographic memory. Show them a very difficult formula once and they can remember it for many months when asked to recall. They store all the info in the brain cells which doesnt die. They will never turn senile no matter how old they are.
As for untalented pple, they do this formula. Within a few days, they may forget or miss out a term in the formula already. Their brains produce some chemicals which will impede or kill some of their brain cells very fast.
I am only referring to the 'academic' talented pple. There are of course many other forms of talents.
if you haf no talent then face it. hard workers will pass geniuses. keep telling yourself that.
Have talent but no luck also no use
Have talent but not hardworking also couldn't sustain
Hardworking but no talent will make u even more hardworking
Hardworking but no luck will make your life miserable
However,if you don't give up and learn from your mistakes, you will have chances to succeed in life.
i think everyone has a role to play on earth and maybe their talents are distributed fairly. like maybe one guy is a genius in piano only. while another guy can paint, dance, sing and altogether compared to the piano guy. their overall talents are fair and square?
while in my other perception, it can be true that people receive different levels of talent. but with hardwork and understanding, nothing is improssible. so i think there must be a balance of hardwork and talent. :)
Everybody is talented in some area just whether you can discover it...I just discovered that I am quite talented in arguing...debating lah
...Hardwork is nuturing, culturing a a skill which is not in-born in you. Also a talent is different from a passion. For example, my passion is cars and photography...
hard work is a load of crap. if you're happy waiting tables, you're still happy. im guessing you didnt do so swell for your A s'.. i'm taking them this year and i haven't started studying but i'll skim through with ok results, thats all i deserve and im happy about that.
What are you wondering about?
Whether to work hard or not?
it's not talent that's glorified. It's the end result.
People want to see results in things they take part in. If you have talents, it just means u need lesser effort to achieve desired results.
On the other hand, if you dun have talents, u just gotta make it up with more efforts, now blindly charging or tactless working will not bring u the desired results.
E.g. you read notes every single day without attempting to understand does not mean u're hardworking, hardworking is revising the notes trying to understand and grasp the keypoints at the same time think of how to apply them.
Essentially, talented or not; people go through the same path to achieve the results it's just the speed and ease of which.

My A's results was not bad. But in fact, it was so 'not bad' for me that when I think back, I wonder if that 2 days of excitment I had after getting back my results deserve the 2 years of hardwork I put in. Doesn't make any sense to study like crazy for 2 years just so that you can be happy for 2 days right?
As for some of my friends, I see them work very hard too. Who knows, maybe some of them worked harder than me. But in the end, their results still can't make it. Fair or not? They work harder than me yet get worse results, I feel so guilty larh.
talent.....use it wisely.....
Talent is smthng u r born with.Everyone has one talent or other. But most don't realise it.
With hardwork, you can develop skill. And tht can cover a lot.
Hardwork+skill>Talent+Lazy
