there are ways to get around it through proxy ..... i.e. not in your name ...

and you need to decide on the nature of you business ... sole proprietor, LLC, company etc ....

you can get a sole proprietor ship registered online (everything is online now) at ACRA for less than 50 dollars ... a Pte Ltd would cost a few hundred dolllars more .... the filing alone is $350 if I remember correctly

if it's a small time thingy, keep it simple, a Pte Ltd would cost you more to wind down and de-register than to register one ...

    • have u go checked out the prices for the equipment required?

if u are going to do for 3 months only, do u think it's going to be fair to your customer?
wat if they are looking for some long-term service?

and why would they trust a kid to take car of their 60k car?

    • I see future for this guy. Thats if u actually got around to doing it =P

Best is go do survey urself prices. All these can be calculated. Just need to know the factors internal and external. But then again , knowing too much may put you off to do ur business. N u gonna do it with anyone else ? Man power ? But i worry u gonna meet some real ngiao customers that is gonna eat u alive.

    • I think the best thing to when starting a biz is to jump out of the plane first ....

to hell with the parachute ..... that way you'll fight harder ... maro's right ... if you plan and think too much ... your balls will shrink and you'll end up doing nothing ....

    • - Get a prime location (preferably nucleated settlements of middle income families)

      - Find out the rent of the washing bay (Multi Purpose Carparks washing bay not for free by the way)

      - Get your equipments/items/detergent/wax from a wholesaler or compare prices...get 2nd hand equipment first...

      - Print out flyers or dissemninate any cheap form of advertisement (remember to put out a disclaimer in fine print that you will not be subjected to any damages to the car subsequent to the washing)

      - Lay out a suitable and affordable price for the wash (the industry average is $5...so try to be creative and make packages)

      - Rope in siblings/relatives/friends who are willing to help out out of GOODWILL

      - Once you have established a firm hold in the washing at the estate you are in..get some car washing babes in bikini to wash the car while the driver is inside..haha

-remember to register the business..(very small sum if i can recall)

actually that's for you to find out yourself.

doing a business is about networking..knowing the right people who can help you.

if you are clueless about the steps and procedures, don't rush into things..

moreover you mention that you will be doing it during your holidays..given which you don't have enough time to advertise for your own business.

i suggest that you look up the govt related sides for more helplines.

email them, i'm sure they are more than willing to help.

but beware. unless you have a lump sum of captial, else, don't think of starting it if not you will be cheated by the pros in the industry.

do ur planning first..doing a business is not easy task..it could take u a few years to complete your plans, but no worries. the more details u have, the higher ur chances of survival is so that you will be prepared compared to jumping into a war with no weapons nor bullets to fight and win the war (competition among fellow industry players)
