Free Internet By Government

Hi....
What do you guys think if internet is made free by the government...?
An example, for instance we can use roads for free......
Acherly hor.....Internet is just like roads.
Internet is the 21st century infrastructure, while road is the 20th century infrastucture.
With roads we can move to places physically, and on the internet, we can move our ideas, and digital items.
But imagine if stepping onto a road or even accessing any road, must pay. Imagine toll booth and charges everywhere. Imagine a 'subscription plan' to use roads.
But that is the condition now with internet.
I think maybe it is a pity.
If internet can be lifted up and given a proper status as 'infrastucture' , I think many people can become smarter much faster, and also richer, more efficient in work, and it will be a boost to the economy too, it is just like a petrol subsidy or an improvement of a road or port infrastructure.
I wish Singapore can do this. Be truly revolutionary.

also, with now almost everything increasing - the govt will increase it further instead..

Right now we are paying for the internet connection and yet we are getting shitty spd comparing to other countries and u expect free internet connect? I will seriously thank god if our ISP dun cap our spd. Pfft. I remember coming across an article about singapore wanting to be a mini gaming hub.. MY FOOT! IT'S TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE!!!!1

Roads are not free. They are paid for with your tax dollars. If the internet is made "free" by the government then the government will have control over what information you will have access to.

but u paid taxes mah, even the air you breathe now also is taxed ok, then when they build bridges, they increase car taxes, income taxes, Gst and all other hiking, so, in one way or the other, be it tangible or intangible, you and me paid. -

Like seriously, you think Singapore will give free internet meh? If will, it won't be as fast as other countries, and moreover, you may not know when Singapore will stop giving free internet while other countries, will.
