you want to motivate your kid ? ... buy a cane ...
lol they'll be motivated for all the wrong reasons.
you want the kids to be motivated for themselves. not because of external factors like fear or reward etc.

I think the stick is a better motivator than the carrot any day ....
without the carrot the kid may lose motivation ...
but without the stick, the memory of it will still keep him going .....

I went for the programme before. Adam Khoo is very good at building rapport with the students (i attended from school) and the programme did show results. However, the results may or may not be long-term.. I was motivated for a year plus - which was at least enough for me to get my grades pulled up decently.

adam khoo's method is all NLPs. like all things, your child needs to be disciplined to excel. all the methods he taught will go down the drain if your child adopts a left in, right out attitude.
you can borrow books of NLPs to understand its concepts better. i think it has its merits in some areas. however, i am no NLP expert.
like most singaporeans, we must pay in order to take something more seriously. like the classic slimming/dieting; in most cases, one loses weight if we burn more calories than we take. complement it with a healthy lifestyle like exercising and eating right, most should lose weight after some disciplined effort. but we are somehow more convinced if we part thousands.
why can't we instill self discipline and self-belief on our own? must we pay to let someone tell us what we already know?

not true, you pay him big bucks, like $3-4k for 4 hours and he'll troop in with one or 2 of his assistants. my colleague did it once for his offsite meeting in sentosa. he came with his `ang kong kong' bmw 3 series convertible and use music in his presentation to great effect.
i was allowed to `sneak in' for his workshop as i have no business to be in his offsite. one of his signature tricks is to ask you to stretch... and then ask you to visualize stretching yourself further and voila, you find yourself actually being able to do so. then he will say that we can all achieve anything if only we put our minds into it. he is the best example. this is a classic case of us shortchanging ourselves for not pushing the envelope in the things we do; and we have to learn it the expensive way....

for tt money, he will throw in a photo opportunity and autograph it for you too. my colleague has his sitting on his desk

the guy uses this adage that there is a sucker born every minute..
he tells you what you already know...
and most of all, it only works with people with weak minds and weak wills, looking for someone to affirm whatever the hell they feel..
so.. if you think your kids have are easily swayed, go ahead.. but you can do the same thing.. unless they stopped listening to you because you kept nagging at them...

i was supposed to go for his talk with my entire class.
but the day his course started, i got chickenpox so i didnt go.
but when i came back, i realise that all my classmates damn motivated. homework everyday confirm do one. only i left struggling.
however, sad to say, the motivation lasted only two weeks.
i heard got one day(out of the 3days course), he will dono do what talk to you all and make everyone in the course shed tears wor!!!
but seriously, i think the $$ is better spent elsewhere.
