the thought of winning inspires the individual, team and country to achieve greater heights.

winning is a morale booster to a country in turmoil.

winning gives the individual, team and countrymen a sense of pride.

winning provides financial gain in some countries (like Singapore), in some cases carefree retirement.

      yah lah.

if you win, it can inspire you to train harder and achieve better results. it also inspires the losing team to train harder.

if a country is in turmoil, the thought of their soccer team winning the world cup will bring joy to the nation. you never watch Brazil win world cup meh?

winning also gives a sense of pride to the countrymen, knowing that they are one up against another country.

if you win gold medal in olympic games, Singapore government give you $1 million.

      *i faint*

    • depends on the objective set by the organization/ sportsperson.

      outcome based/mastery performance

objectives by the individual companies/people reflects their goals as winning or losing lor

    • depends on how you win.  by showing true sportsmanship or winning without pride. having been to a few national and international races, i can tell u that most singapore sportsmen and women have little or zero sportsmanship. not only do they use all shorts of unsightly method to try to win against people from other countries, they even did it to their own countrymen. its a shame. and worse they are the ones who complain the most!

so in order to save myself from being lump together with those sports people, i have stopped joining competition.

    • As the Tiger beer ad says, "If winning isn't important, why do people keep score?"

I always remember what my ex-boss told me. "In everything, be the first. The second is still a loser."

So I guess, yes, winning is EVERYTHING.

Wrong. It's should be the results and not the process. Wining is wining, losing is losing, who's care about the process.

      Afterall, winner take all.

    • Although the process might be rewarding, teaches you somethin.... but afterall, everyone is after the title/trophy.............. So in the context of competitive sports, i say winning is impt. Who dont want their team to win?

If friendly matches, then winning is not important. Just play and have fun. (also depends on how competitve a person is....)
