u're a student in sim?
people go to sch to study not to eat. universities are suppossed to engage in research and all this needs money.
I think the refreshments were all the while a bonus that sim students enjoyed isn't it? it's not stated in the enrolment package did they?
black and white, it's not an entitlement. it's just a privillege. Have then good, don't have also can't do anything about it.
That's right.
Universities should also provide fondue to their students.
How can students study well without fondue? ![]()

hmm actually i'm not sure if sim engages in researches etc..
and again, are you from sim?
this kind of ting is not supposed to be free in the first place wat.

yeah, but there should be justification also?
one day govt says "no more pay rise for private and public sector"? same logic wat.
i'm not sure if raises are part of the entitlement of a job. but if it isn't, can you still shrug and give say that it's petty to be upset about it?
She doesn't know what is inflation?

then? talk so easy, don't have don't have lor, not as if you paid the fees mah. when you do so, you'll feel unhappy also
Originally posted by FireIce:this kind of ting is not supposed to be free in the first place wat.
yeah it isn't free. in a way, we paid for it already as part of the fees. the fees have already been set to cover certain costs, whether it's electicity bills, or refreshment etc..
we didn't just pay for the lessons, we paid for the facilities, and they were suppose to justify if the things they do not justify the fees.
example, if halfway through the lesson, they decided to cut off power, to save electricity bills, they can say "electricity is not an entitlement wat, it's a privilege" you can go study in the open area where there is sunlight" just as some of you are saying (coincidently, they don't pay the school fees nor study there)
talk is easy ya?

haha maybe tt may be the reason, but i don't know, we're all unhappy about it also, especially without justification

I'm not saying it's petty to be upset about it.
if I paid school fees and the refreshments were part of the package, I'll be annoyed.
but if the enrolment terms didn't state anything of such, black and white they are not wrong.
It's just like those while stocks last terms. Just nice when u queued for 2 hours and the freebies are distributed finish.. :P

making noise about it got what use. sim already announced that they will stop the refreshments. why dont go gather everybody write petition see what sim say? if not happy with sim over the stopping of refreshments, then just quit sim. very simple.
different logic
i take it akin to Malaysia or Indonesia gahmen withdrawing fuel subsidies

for crying out loud electricity is critical to the lectures while teabreak is not
how come suka suka can use this as analogy?
talk is cheap yah?

haha, obviously some of the posters here think that it's petty, and coincidently, they're demostrating that talk is certainly cheap, especially if they're not implicated by the decision.
it is not wrong, is politically right, but since our fees have definitely covered the cost of the refreshments, we would like to know why they have stopped it.

analogy very subjective.. I think electricity those kind of basic things I think let people know also don't need the students get angry.. the parents will get angrier!

i think you are the one demonstrating cheap talk
just like the stompers who only know how to complain and post pics online

but the point is, the cost of the refreshment is logically covered by our fees, so if they cut off the refreshment, where is the money going to?
i used this as an analogy to argue the fact that, the issue cannot be simply shrugged off and ignored and swept under the carpet just because it isn't labelled black and white on paper, as argued by some posters.
