To be professional, u need to read yr opposition body language, you need to do yr homework, like what is the current inflation, and how it affect your current pay. What is the market norm increment for your position, are u underpay or overpay, what is the NWC recommendation, how is your relationship with your boss. scratching of face...a sign of you are too much
scratching of head...a sign of he is not sure
a shift in body...a sign of surprise on what u ask for
a narrow of eyes...indicating this is serious
etc etc etc...digging of noses..indicate he dun give a damn about it.
Look for such sign when u do negiotation, and for such, u need to attend courses. Or for some, it come naturally that they know what the boss is thinking. In negotiation with boss, make it simple, get the facts and statistic, show it to him, boss like figures better than talking.
