there is shi nai hk cafe.
food not too bad.

I hope this one dun smell...
But i guess TS wants to smuggle somethings and want to ask Customs to close one eye.
Nope actually...i am going to start work at Singapore Customs soon. And Singapore Customs don't deal with the checkpoints which is handled by ICA, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority
Don't worry i made the exact same mistake when i went to the interview, the directors smiled and explained to me....thought gone case liao! :p
Ya.. ICA in charge.. but any Customs offenders will be handed over to the customs.
Last time immigration and customs split but we followed the global (at least in the western world) to merge both functions but still retain the Customs department which is primarily a financial and commerce guard for the country.
Nowadays.. Customs just handle related tax (import duties, etc), excise and of course.. cigarette enforcement.
tankee1981, hows the interview with customs? what type of interview questions did they ask you? im going for mine soon. damn scared. haha.

Dun scare, selamat also dun scare, why you scare...
Actually they need a lot of officers now, very shorthanded. Customs and checkpoint all jammed up.
Singapore Customs doesn't do border enforcement. That is being done by ICA now.
Btw i am working there now.
Cheers!![]()

You are partly right. SG Customs handles WMD aka weapons of mass destruction as well. This is just part of the strategic goods controls. It is customs' duties to prevent WMD shipments from going into the wrong hands. It is the duty of our police officers and ICA to prevent undesirable goods to enter SG but it is customs duty to prevent such goods to bypass SG and into the wrong hand. Among the other things that customs do, they also do preventive actions on terrorism on the supply chain.

I suppose customs also helps in border enforcement in some way as officers are still stationed at the checkpoints.
HOW much is ur salary if u work at singapore customs?
Hey tankee1981,
may i know what are you working as for ICA? coz i'm thinking of applying for a job there too. Thanks
Me work in Singapore Customs not ICA. We used to be together but split a few years back. Last time call SIR which is a combo of ICA and SC.
Pay wise mah you can see the official website, its a salary range now, just change in August 08, which means you can get anything in between.
Cheers! Anyone working nearby maybe we can have lunch together? Me newbie there so mainly eat alone.
Actually i want to know what kind of training will be expected for the position of senior officer. Do you happen to know?or anyone here? It only says 10 weeks of training on the official website. I wonder if there will be bmt like when u join the spf etc.
senior officer?
like higher rank
work in orbice one
Don't think like BMT, the training really depends on whats your job scope. We do have SO doing admin work, can't expect these people to go for 10 weeks of BMT-type of training for what they have signed up for.
I am newbie so won't know much and those which i know i can't say or will compromise Ops. Some of the stuff we do can be dangerous, but they always ensure safety 1st.
Icic. Thanks a lot. =)
