what the value of a Purdue mechanical engineering to a Aussie ANU mechanical engineering degree in Singapore? Don't wanna start any heated debate.
Purdue is no top 50 Uni but according to the below it pretty good in engineering. http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/college/spec-doct-mechanical
I read Singapore employer perfer a ANU grad over Purdue grad. It that true?
cost of attending Purdue is higher than ANU. cost wise its already not favourable. If local employer show preference to a GO8 Uni, it means no sense going to Purdue.
ANU tuition: AUD$22.8K
Purdue: US$23K
For Engineers, Singapore employers prefer NUS.
Dude,
Are you even aware whether ANU is offering mechanical engineering? I seriously doubt so. By the way, ANU is not known for their engineering courses. If you want to get an engineering degree in Australia, I'll recommend you to get within GO8. Uni of Melb, Syd, Queensland, NSW are pretty reputable.
It's true that Purdue is pretty recognised in terms of engineering aspects. Singapore prospects i am not too sure.

DUDE!!
I know ANU isn't offering true blue Mech Engin program. U can do Bachelor of Engineering major in materials and mechanical systems. I know its not PEB accredited too. I guess its a bad comparison. Using the Uni U listed, whats the difference in prospect?

If U were to compare G08 or Uni like Purdue, without a doubt Singapore employers show perference to NUS/NTU. everyone know it at the back of their head.
if U taking about MIT/Stanford thats different story loh.
Uniofmel admission is pretty strict, not sure whether you're from a polytechnic or straight out from the A's, but if you're from poly, you'll probably end up starting from freshmen year. That is unless you did extremely well for your polytechinc course to earn exemptions. Uniofmel is always looked upon as a class above the rest, but difference in prospects? No one will know exactly which uni will have better prospects.
The above universities I've mentioned above are probably well regarded in Australia as well as in Singapore. Some might say UNSW offers the best engineering courses in Australia, but since Singapore has its short-lived on-campus study a few years ago, I opted for University of Queensland in the end.
