most of these type of cases are either becoz the person is mad or they get paid to do so...

a saying thats proven to be unpopular whenever someone tried to apply it to christians themselves, everytime you see someone trying to apply it chances are they'll say something like
"thats not what it means, you're trying to twist the meaning"
same thing with the death penalty, only the affected knows what it truly means. people are not saints when its not affecting them they can say anything to sound noble.
the australians were fighting against death penalty and i believe the recent case regarding the viet guy can still be remembered. but when the bali bombing happened, it was the australians who were asking for the death penalty, and their govt strangely quiet when they were asked to plead for the bombers only to speak up again when the spot light came to rest on their three guys who were coming up next.
but there was one interesting case i read about in the 90s when i was still in primary or sec school. an italian was murdered in the middle east and the judge found him guilty and sentenced him to death. but the catch was his family in italy has to be the ones to carry out the sentence and the case ended with the man going free because the family despite wanting death penalty would rather let him off then do it themselves.

...but what you've quoted is not referenced to murder.
I believe that there are evil people out there who won't commit murder for fear of being executed.

Yes.. about christian bible and stuff... i bet the population of singaporeans wouldnt buy that because they are brought up being taught that through punishment its the only way to deter crime.. well i wud agree that punishment is one way to deter criminal but if there are other ways to low crime rate i wud have take on the approach.. sounds reasonable?
About executing the wrong prisoners u have mentioned, that is the main risk... Plus this risk is too sacred to let it happen... What if you have taken an innocent life wrongly? would that be terrible? how can you answer to the persons family, friends, the public and your god.
Regarding the reply to Amnesty international on singapores death penalty issue recently, i felt that instead of going counter to the move to abolition, singapore should instead find ways to achieve abolition. Instead of saying its good, why cant we say " I agree with you that we can move to abolition, however due to circumstances we are unable to completely move towards it. For now we found death penalty to be more effective but we would definitely find and work for possible options to death penalty and if that approach is good we oculd adopt it.-progressive transition."

Woo ... I agree on this .Then the people who are wrongly accused ( if any ) .. can choose to give up hope or hold on to the little hope then.
The people who truely guilty can choose to die or spend time reflecting , then eventually die .

studies conducted in america shows that the prisoners will most likely opt for life imprisonment instead.
