Before I get flamed for being lazy, I'd also like to say that I've done my research, but it isn't explicitly stated.
So can anyone give me some details? e.g. like which bank is the best for me to park my cash with?

Go for POSB. I suggest that you deposit S$500 to open an account.
Initial deposit for Personal Savings account opening:-
POSB - S$1
Most other banks – S$3000
Minimum Daily Balance to be maintained for the month:-
POSB - S$500
Most other banks – S$3000

No such thing as under 21 maintain $500. All ages also must maintain $500 Monthly Average Balance (MAB), else $2 svc charge.
If your funds are tight, then open a POSB account as their MAB is $500. If you have more funds, consider a OCBC or a UOB account, cos their queue at ATMs is always shorter than POSB/DBS ATMs.
U can use a POSB ATM card at a DBS machine, and vice vesa.
U can use a UOB ATM card at OCBC machine, and vice vesa. The first 2 withdrawals in the monthly is free (If u use a UOB ATM card on OCBC ATM or vice vesa), subsequently, a svc charge of $0.15 is applicable per withdrawal.
Every bank will have their fair share of people critising them. Personally I prefer using OCBC's banking systems.

Hi!
Initial deposit for "most other banks" savings account is $1000. $3000 is usually for current or checking accounts.

POSB is really the best bank in singapore, now.![]()
for the longest time my posb acct was < $500. hehe.
X2
i suggest saving in a biscuit tin better.. calculating the interest rate of let say 10k the interest rate a month stated in your bank statement is not even enuff for you to take bus to deposit the money and a return journey back..
I have a POSB Passcard account. I get the statement mailed to me every month, and I use the atm and giro services only. Therefore I never go to their branches. Their queues are always super long.
