that is why must always remember Singapore.....here today gone tomorrow.
Singapore is developing too fast. If you do not visit that place just for a few months, the next time you go you see changes.
Sigh....their seafood and satay tokong.
And it was quite cheap.....but can't remember the exact price.
And when I used to live in Woodlands, Sembawang was a forest, the only link to Ang Mo Kio was the freaking long 169 ride. And the shophouses at the checkpoint used to be the centre of Woodlands. Now become Causeway Point which looks boring in comparison.
And Emporium departmental stores!

About 15 years and more.....in those days there were still farms along Gambas Ave, Sembawang, and you could see the geese and chicken waddle home every evening....now become part of army camp.

Dont know if it was still cool at night 15 years ago because I was already out of Singapore but the morning air in the areas you mentioned was fresh.

anyone remembers this?

Yes sogo and do you remember Yokoso? The first 24 hours shopping place but it didnt last because Singaporeans would rather sleep than go shop for an expensive leather wallet at 3 am in the morning

So many emporiums everywhere like mini mustapha but I think there only three Yaohans in Singapore?

i like Katong Stretch...it is nostalgic: Roxy theatre, Wonderland...colonial houses, Red house that sell Bread...Remember go there and buy Kaya Toast.
Infact Katong is one area that you can said "Lay Back"
Holy family church was still that old non air cond building.

Quaint neighbourhoods in SG:
Tanglin Halt, the provision and corner coffee shops there have this '80s feeling to them.
Any more quaint neighbourhoods?
