Any tips to pass driving practical test?

  Hi everyone...I'll be having my practical test for the first attempt next next month (Nov). And my driving instructor's getting more and more fussy...just short of some more $%#$% before I burst out at him.
  
  So normally what is in store during a practical test? Are there any tips, for example special things instructors look out for...? do I need to sit for a warm up class prior to the test on that day?
  
  My instructor says I need practise on my parking skills....it is so weird becoz i can do it quite well outside the circuit. when it comes to the circuit, he seems to get very fussy. and today's class he was the only instructor shouting so loud...macham got fire like that.
  
  I talked to some friends who have passed theirs...all between 3rd to 7th time. they say some testers contradict themselves. i cant help to agree with it on my instructor.
  
  any advice is greatly appreciated...thanks!

  listen hard, and try hard..
  
  be alert and cool.. i think it's part of the "training" where you have to think and do everything cooly without panicking...
  
  oh, also make sure your tester sees what you are doing.. like checking blind spot, can announce or actually turn your head to look.. make sure you do it quickly tho'..
  
  don't give him a chance to deduct points for stuff which seems trivial..

  Try to know your weakness and improve on it, try not to be jerky in your driving. They are looking for Safety First. The rest are secondary.
  
  Most of the graduates will pass on the 3rd to 5th attempts.

  You have 50% of passing.
  
  If you take it in the sat morning like before 9am, chances are 75% of passing. Other day is 25% of chance of passing.
  
  My estimation only, may not be applied to those who have confidence in passing in the first place.

  Tips:
  
  1) Read your tester's body language - if he is about to test your sudden braking technique, he would check out the road conditions first. So, once you detect that, be ready to ready fast!
  
  2) In the circuit, when you stop on the slope, make sure your hand brake is concurrent with that of the pedal brake. You won't wanna 'loon' backwards. Ensure that your car comes to a stop as hently as possible.
  
  3) Testers' always place safety first in Singapore, so if you encounter any strange incidents e.g. where pedestrians suddenly step in your driving direction, always slow down and stop!!! Even if you are driving on main road, always act safety conscious! You don't have to drive near speed limit if the conditions doesn't allow you to.
  
  Never speed! (Note: This may not always apply in overseas practical test, esp US).
  
  4) Pray for a rainy day. That way you can go really slow and you will have sufficient time to react if anything happens.
  
  Bottom-line: Testers just wanna gauge if you are safety conscious and can react quickly and appropriately when situations occur without panicking.

  Singapore testers only believe in safety.

  oh well i actually tot i should give rainy days a miss during my prayers to pass my driving test. so far i have not encountered any rainy lessons, not to mention if i had used the wiper...hmmz interesting logic abt rainy days.
  
  i see on the test paper (my instructor showed me) that some rules contain some boxes that seems to indicate candidates will only get pts after repeating the same mistake for the 2nd time. true?

  My tips for u:
  
  1. Be calm and be confident. He dont want to see u kan cheong or scared cos that means u are not prepared for real world of driving.. ie not the circuit type.
  
  2. Dress up presentable, greet him make hime feel gd.
  
  3. Wear shoes which u use to learn so u got a gd feel of pedals.
  
  4. Safety always, check all when neccessary, throw in a few extra but dun over do cos again he will feel u nt ready for road.
  eg. hesitate lah, too slow lah
  
  5. Pray hard and good luck!

  I got a few friends that passed as private candidates, their advice is to go for as many circuit practices as possible, that is the place that most private candidates buang. Their main reason for failing: Not familiar with the circuit courses.

  fwoah.............yeah thanks to all for the encouragement.......... i am still trying to psycho myself to stay calm during the test...
  
  i checked out that my instructor actually passed very little no of people attempting for the first time......woah......
  
  hannor i always kena buang during parking in circuit. amazingly, outside parking i am much better.......any tips on parking better in circuit???

  practice...go slow...half-clutch skill must be steady...

  Agreed X2...
  ur half clutch skills must be very steady when in circuit cos it's help in e parallel parking, S-course etc.. the tester wont penalise when u use 1st gear to move from one test point to another...
  
  dun over confident cos u might tend to mk mistakes which u dun even realise it n ended up FAILED!!!
  
  go for more circuit practical as this is the onli way u can drive well in cicruit....
  
  the onli passing tip is ---- STAY CALM N NEVER NERVOUS cos u will mk more mistakes if u r nervous...
  
  treat the test as one of ur practical..if u saw the tester kept ticking the paper, ignore it... it doesnt mean u will failed...dun let it affect ur driving...it's human psycology....
  
  btw, i'm private candicate too n pass @ 1st attempt with 14cut-off points... good luck for u....
