    • How many ppl suddenly stop eating shark's fin after they took up scuba diving. How many for these (ASFA) anti-shark's fin avocates actually care for the enviroment.

       

      I feel a lot of these ppl became ASFA just to be in the so call ' IN ' group. How many of them care abt global warming, try to recycle use lesser plastic products, lessen pollution.. etc. Without a proper enviroment for the marine ecosytem to flourish, sharks which is at the top few levels of the food chain will suffer too. As the ocean temperature increases, coral reefs will decrease and soon Divers will just dive to see sharks swimming ard dead corals .. wondering where is their 'natural' food source.

       

      I love the sea and is planning to take up scuba but i DO eat sharks fin on very rare occassions. Its all abt self control. Remember most species or marine life including SHARKS can survive in marine parks reserves where poaching / finning / syninde fishing is controled but there is nothing preventing the temperature in the marine reserve from increasing.

    • nice cake .. on a commercial basis 40 dollars is bit ex. but if my mum bakes it for me i pay 400 for it. If its ‘she ’ who bake it for me i pay a life time of love for it. I gonna want to learn baking. Any idea what temp must the oven be capable of reaching to bake a cake .. etc ..etc .

    • andrew you should be really happy that u are only like less then 2 years into the relationship. You did not lose too much time. If be much worst if u both are married / have kids ... etc ...

      if you love her enough to want to salvage the relationship at this point .. you should also love her enough to let her go and be happy doing what she does. If she returns the bond be stronger otherwise ... i cannot think of any logically possible outcome.

      is it the pain of a 2 years effort VS a 2 months fling. You did not lose everything ... you gained experience ... with it comes better success. I think u shld be under 25, theres still a long way to go. Look forward to living life for yourself, u deserved better.

    • most value for money in terms of taste and pricing beef noodles in SG is Changi V hawker centre. 4.30 for rice , meat with tripe and tendon … comes with nice think sauce with 2 kinds of chillis to choose from. MUST TRY

    • ermm okie .. stingray for sure contains lesser mercury the hail tail .. belt fish as commonly know. pi tai yu in chinese. 1st salmon is not force feed. how the hell do u stuff food down a salmon throat. foruce feeding is like foire grais goose liver ... they force feel the goose by stuffing the food right down the throat.

      Salmon - mostly farm bred. they grow 3 times faster then wild ones. WhY. cuz they are genenically alter bred of the salmon .. to grow faster and lesser illness and stuff. the meat of farm bred salon is not naturally orange color. they add beta - colarone or something .. those thats in carrots to make the salmon meat orange color. thats why i dun eat salmon much

    • ermm actually are u ppl talking abt cod fish or snow fish. because the so call sno fish in chinese is not the real cod fish … snow fish is this zarath something toothfish. and yes cod fish is getting lesser in the world. to actually eat real cod fish there is one one way possible . try buying the Fish Eye brand cod fish fingers the one with this sea man picture on it.

    • Ermmm i personally wonder how did yr CO ever get to know abt this. In the 1st place you u talk with yr PC or OC and 99% they tell u to go ahead and dun get caught. They say by right cannot this ... cannot that .. Have you not learn in yr army time that its a place where every assholes cover their assholes. Comfirm if i CO if u come and ask me silly stuff that is stated in directive , i will say no. But will i charge a person that is going ORD for studies reasons. Definate no no, if u do get charge i am sure u be the 1st and all the media will know about it and make a big bang. I am sure yr CO knows abt that too. And its only one month what u think will happen in one month.

      Situation so simple just take overseas leave for as long as yr leave allows and then off or whatever way u like.

      Before i ORD i had little leave left having gone for 2 holidays during NS, i told my QM and RQ that i be clearing MC. I had like almost 4 weeks of MC and was outside almost everyday during the last 3 weeks. I am proud to say in my 2 years of army i never went to tekong once , never pass my ippt and never went to a single outfield. Yet i did my work well and did others work too. Once i had medical appointments the whole week but my work was done and nobody bothered me. If u can do your own work and sometimes other's , do whatever u want, dun get caught , dun abuse and you be fine.

    • address .. dunno they brother or not .. 5 star or 6 star .. but that kinda of standard even if they are my brother i also will not eat … must 7 stars aline in the sky then can come across such sucky food

    • actually i dun feel i been taken for a ride cuz i had low expectations of the whole picture when i was there .. but i was with my frens and they suggest that place. abt going to the press it be too much trouble .. i rather spent time here sharing ideas with ppl or finding food worthy of being eaten. with such standards the place will bring themselves down in matter of months.

      talking abt this makes my blood boils again ... if only i am not on crutches for the moment i would go and talk to the person that cook that plate of @#$@#$ that i was served

    • actually if u good the meat properly u dun need tenderiser..
      i just came back from a small bbq .. we got 2 average quality ribeye from cold storage.. they turn up great .. even when i think i over done it to medium .. depending on yr done ness u dun really need tenderiser unless u like eating geylang beef kuay teow style beef .... YUCKS

      there is also this nice marinate which u can just sprinkle on the beef or chicken and just cook right away .. i forgot the brand but its a all bbq meat seasoning .. its red .. plenty or parprical and salt .. onion power inside

      theres nothing like sitting by the sea and having this charcoal grill steak .. next trip i gotto get Kobe beef

    • this is what we do when i was working at a western cafe, we just sprinkle the steak with a little salt and paparika, pop it on the grill and serve it with the sauce. i believe that western grills and stuff shld not be seasoned much and that it shld some with some heavenly sauce.

      you can get get sauce mix from most major super markets. just follow the insturction and u be safe. no point covering a piece of prime steak with seasoning.

    • actually before u get yr 1st bike maybe u shld consider yr pupose with it

      1. from point A to B distance wise certain bikes is not comfortable to ride for long distance

      2. the kind of rider u are. are u like large .. small bulid.. what kinda of bike u handle better and feel better with

      3. how technically well versed are u. so u can get the lesser mantainance bike

      Cost involve

      if u are a young rider with P plate .. the insurance will be a killer expecially if u get bikes on hire purchase.

      road tax is anything under 200 for a year

      if u get a RZX which is a nice bike to ride with lesser mantainece except topping of 2T and petrol and pumping of tires. It can be bought for under 2k with everything in. Dun expect a looker though.

    • Whats the worst western food u had ?

      Today i had dinner at this ' Blackboard ' Western Food at blk 18 Bedok South. The end result ... its beyond dissapointment, i believe cookhouse food from army camp taste better. This place is full of ah bengs at the cashier, not so sure of the cooks inside, they are trying to follow Botak Jones style but CMI. I am sure it not survived over 1 year at the rate its doing. My friend told me that this stall is featured on TV before and now i am wondering how much they paid for the advertisement.

      i order pork chops with apple sauce. super over priced at $8

      1st the serving is super small for the pork, comfirm lesser then 200g, total suface area is lesser then 2 ciggerette box. Its cut unevenly and thickest part is lesser then 1 cm and thinnest part is lesser then 5mm

      2nd they bloodly cheat on the cutting of the meat, personally i believe that pork chops should be the cutting with a bone in it. They use pork loin or pork shoulder which is mostly use in those fried pork cutlets.

      3rd apple sauce is just some puree apple or apple jam , and its like lesser then 1 table spoon.

      4rd fries are cold .. and i mean cold with not even a hint of warmth inside.

      5th the sides is lousy, it comes with coslaw, given the price at less have some garden greens or lettuce, besides the closaw sucks

      Reviews of what my friends ordered

      Jumbo Fish and Chips - they uses typical dory fish with is cat fish from vietnam, the serving is just the size it shld be .. nothing jumbo abt it, best part is the fish is unseasoned and has a fishy smell. The lemon wedge they give is skinned. This is weird who will skinned a lemon and use it as a garnish unless theres something wrong with the skin .. or they use the lemon skin / zest to season other stuff.

      Cajun chicken - nothing fantastic about the taste, the serving again is small , its thicker then those typical local western food but still nothing to shout for. Its undercooked and overall is not cook up to 1/2 cafe standard

      Sambal Chicken - Wow this is the better one. Why .. its cuz the amount of sambal they give is thicker then the chicken itself. Besides the sambal covers the taste of the uncooked chicken.

      Overall, i NEVER eat there unless its the only food stall there and its free. Maybe its a sunday, maybe its not my day. Anyone that eaten there before feel free to give coments.

      PS. if not i am on crutches , i bring that plate of dog food standard pork chop to the counter and comfort them.

    • i can survive on seafood alone .. i love them .. i eat any thing with a shell .. non insect related .. prawns .. fishes .. sotong .. crabs .. shell fishes u name it .. i eat it .. dream is to go on a seafood eating spree in HOkkaiido

    • lets get a few point clear 1st. Baked rice with mussels u eat outside normally use the frozen NZ green mussels. they come 1/2 shelleds in a box . available at most big super markets.

      those mussels u found at wet markets or the chill seafood sections in super markets are call Cai Luan , i called it asian mussels taste a lot dif from those real angmo cold water mussels.

      large super markets catering mostly to angmo ppl shld have stock on live mussels. not a common item. but if u see it buy some .. wash them a bit and cooked them with sautee garlic and grace it with some white wine. darn .. then u will be in heaven.

      how to choose shell fish > lala , tua dao , cai luan , gong gong , chee hum , etc etc

      they shld look alive , if they move they are frest.
      the shells shld be tightly close, or if its open it shld close when u touch it, meaning its alive.
      touch them, if they are very cold to the touch means it been frozen or kept in the fridge
      smell them, look out for the fresh sea smell , avoid the rottening smell

    • red wine chicken or rather Hong Zhao Chi

      its cooked using home made red gutinous rice wine. its mostly cooked with the home made wine and ginger. If i am not wrong its a dish for women that just gave birth.

      excellent taste , superb aroma . did not know they eat it with mee sua. Dun see it much in Sg cuz making the red G rice wine is illegal very common in johor area.
