i regretted choosing poly, if i were to have a choice i would go for jc education.
at 16 yrs old , we are expected to choose our career and course path, i think its too early to make such a decision. I choosed a course that i totally hate n all i get now is just a diploma cert with no interest in my area of study. now as i am nearing my ord date, i couldnt recall a single thing taught in poly
In my opinion, unless u are passionate in a area of study in poly, go JC.

And the constant exhortations to 'suck thumb' and 'take it like a man' sure don't help.there are several instances where i suggest ideas or methods to change how thing are done, wad i get in return? Regulars asking me to just do according to their way, and when it screw up, i would get the blame. And when i use my method to do n everything went smoothly i get no recognition

thats it man, i aint gona care about this organisation, just do to the minimum, keep my suggestions to myself, n most importantly cover my a s s for 4 more mths

Instead it is meant to create a common, national identity.
To me, the regulars in NS have taken a career-choice and dedicate their life to their country and let's not belittle that.
I know that some feels NS is a total waste of time, and if not for this 2 or 2.5 yrs, you would have earn or achieve more.
However, for me, I felt it was time well spent.
It has taught me discipline, respect, how to submit, and of course, how to "do it but don't get caught".
I feel that singaporean male after going thru NS, are more confident, mature.
No disrespect but I feel nowsadays, the kids, teenagers and in particular, gals really needs NS. They need to be "drill" how to respect superiors, and what is discipline.
Academic wise, I don't believe NS will hinder your growth and retard..
Think of it this way, at least for 2 yrs, you are out of the paper chase or rat race and have a breather.

Sadly not all regulars take pride and responsibility in their work, dedicate their life, i dont think so. I have yet to met regulars whom i can respect. Even NSF can work better than some of the regulars.
Respect is to be earned not to be expected

Just look at this other chap.....Scottish League club Motherwell's captain.....Phil O"Donnell [may his would rest in eternal peace]. He dropped dead almost at the end of a league match between his club and Dundee Utd. These soccer guys sure did not eat unhealthy food as suggested by borntolive. But he still dropped dead. There was one other guy in S. America soccer league too [can't remember his name]. Same thing happened.
My take on these sudden death syndrome.......... there's this little list with a person's name and ROD on this earth. How the person is going to ROD has been pre-determined. Whatever precaution a person takes......eating healthy food, exercise frequently, be careful when crossing the road or driving etc, doesn't help. You can eat healthy foods, but if your ROD is up, you just die in a pre-determined manner. And when we see a person die in such a manner, we will say....."aiyah.....so and so shouldn't eat unheathly food or cross the road carelessly or be at a certain place at the wrong time....blah.....blah....blah!">
If one have to ROD, one just have to ROD, you cannot bargain, time's up go lor!!
well some thing may be predetermined. but we all know that eating unhealthily can casue health problems later.
have u eaten SAF's SFI cooked food, its ridiculously unhealthy.
At me place its not rare to see them serving oily food 3x-4x a week. Dishes like Mee Goreng or Fried Noodles are always soaked in oil. Wads more, for some of these oily dishes, they add stuff like fried luncheon meat, nuggets chicken wing etc
. I
can say that most of meals they serve are unhealthy. They just want
to satisfy the tastebuds of our soldiers without even considering
our health. Imagine eating such unhealthy food for breakfast
