When I signed the agreement, the only thing that was mentioned is the Collision Damage Waiver excess of $1K. Nothing else mentioned in the agreement. I got ask around...soem even propose to see lawyer and shoot a letter to the car rental company.

Hi guys....got a scenario here....need advice/views from you guys.

I rented a car and got involve in a minor collision. I immediately reported to rental company. In the agreement that I signed, the access for Collision Damage Waiver is $1000. Damages to rented car is abt $320....already paid.
Suddenly 6 mths later, lawyer letter came to rental company to claim damages to the other party vehicle(its actuallt a company car). Total damage cost ard. $5K (ridiculous!!). Rental company shoot me a letter stating that I should pay since I was the one driving. According to rental company, the insurance only cover for $500 for third party and demanded that I pay the rest.

Is it fair??
