Indeed, supermarket politics is common. Suppliers have to see the face, sar-kah and give festive presents to some buyers (usually those who rose thru' rank & file type) so that their products will remain on choice location on the shelves.I received the same email and I thot it was fake too...it's just too much work and too much time to convert chopsticks into cheap food.

I don't know which country or which university you are referring to, but from what I know about NUS and NTU, even PRs need to serve a 3 year bond to work only in Singapore and no other countries if they take up the tuition grant. Only local students do not need to serve the 3 year bond.
It's obvious that you do not know that the polys and arts diploma-awarding, etc. institutions in Sg are classified as tertiary education.
So now u know.

I didn't read all the posts, but just wanna add that, it's not only the scholarships. Even for foreign students studying at the tertiary institutions who aren't scholars, the majority of them are given tuition subsidies, which means they pay the same or close to the same fees as locals. They're not bonded when they graduated, can go back to kampong after that.

This reminds me... previously, the $1.99 shop run by Nanz Chong used to sell packs of dried ramen with superb Kyushu soup base, with 3 servings of ramen & yummy thick soup!
I really missed those.

A friend of mine gave me two free tickets for a special preview screening to the local movie 'The Leap Years'.... the FS and I went to watch it last night.

The movie was really cheesy..... like the scene where Wong Li-Lin's character dumps her fiance at the altar to chase after her true love while running in the rain.

And one really, really dumb product placement by OCBC made the whole cinema groan.

Good morning!
I have never been impressed one bit by the "ask ocbc" adverts. I think they need to change the whole marcom team.

Especially when I didn't have kids to recoup the outlay.
Some of my friends tell me that it's
normal for them to give away $1000 or
more just to immediate family alone.
Heng ah I have a very small family.
Yeah, that's normal for me, but it's ok...the bulk goes to my parents.
Just don't think too much about the ang paos given to the others.

Well-said. Finally, someone understands.
