As to any diff btwn 4 yr BA/BSc course vs getting ur own degree (eg. NUS) than taking the NIE Dip Ed only, yes and no. On the surface, it’s the same (pay). But obviously, the govt would rather u use ur own money to get ur degree. So teachers who pay for their own degree (eg. NUS) first then take 1 yr Dip Ed in NIE, will have advantages, most importantly being able to teach immediately in a Sec sch or JC. Those taking the 4 yr BA/BSc course will have to start teaching in a Primary school for at least the first few years.
Teaching is a prudent, wise career move, in this cutthroat, unstable economy of today and the future. Even if you cannot earn as much as say, an investment banker or financial analyst, at least with teaching, you need never starve to death for the rest of your life (less likey to be retrenched/fired, though not impossible; and even after you decide to retire/resign from MOE, being a tution teacher will earn you enough to put food on the table).
I see. Very detailed. Two thumbs up

Your pay will be adjusted (higher) accordingly if you already have years of job experiences working outside (need not be relevant to teaching)
What if it's the 4 year degree program (education) in NIE/NTU?

I love Into The Wild directed by Sean Penn. It's a Hollywood film not shown in Singapore. It's based off the book by the same name.
Watch the trailer and be inspired.

"Into the Wild recounts the life of Crhistopher McCandless, an actual student-athlete at Emory University, as told by his sympathetic sister. In response to a materialistic, manipulative, and domineering father, McCandless destroys all of his credit cards and identification documents, donates $24,000 (nearly his entire savings) to Oxfam, and sets out on a crosscountry drive in his well-used but reliable economy car towards his ultimate goal: to live alone and off the land in Alaska."Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Into_the_Wild_%28film%29

Nah.... I'm holding off buying the game until I graduate in May.
After all, I just finished Trials and Tribulations early in January.... really, really sad ending, I must say.
Anyway, check the DS forum.... your moderator tag should be intact there, since you're not a forum owner there.
Ooo... You buy the game one ah
