mio is savings plan if take singtel mobile, singnet and yr home line, and also incl of mio tv which is digital tv that is streamed from your phone line digitally.. somethin like starhub cable tv. if u mobile , internet, residential line all singtel based, will save some money.

disabled the firewall in the Mio box and used my own's router
firewall. Nothing much hinders the connections.erm... what router u using? may i knw brand, model?

as long as your network is behind a router, don't expect any good download speed at all....
and even if you have 8 Mb/s, AND the torrent has 0 SEEDERS, it will not work at all, look at it this way, i am using 6500Kb/s for a long long time, my download speed is just fine, how torrent works, depends on whether the torrent is well seeded or not
goodness, i don't understand why people just can't understand a simple thing and has to be ask over and over again...
singtel sucks
To TS: don't use any router at all, even a noob will be able to tap into your network, configure a network is a breeze as long you know how to google for it..... if not, please for goodness sake, stick with direct connection.pure rubissh i was previuolsyt on my smc and i have the full max spd. it depends on how u configure

BEfore continuing, did u sign up for MIO voice? cos from ur post, u said u are using 2wire 2700....isit 2700hgv2?
From wad i understand, i think the 2 phones in ur house is connected to the modem, which is the standard way, MIO actually uses sth like VoIP lar....they say until like beri powerfull liddat
u cannot ur phone if u plug it into the wall jack, nor can u use it if u plugged it out of the modem.......means if u 2wire 2700hgv2 is spoilt, u cannot use the phone....which also means u cannot call singnet when ur internet is down.....
dun follow the pic shown in gateway.2wire.net
HOW TO CONNECT SO ALL THE PHONES IN UR HOUSE COULD WORK:
1. From your wall jack, connect a microfilter
2. Connect a splitter[not microfilter, the one with P1 and P2 with a longer wire at the end to the 'telephone' jack at the back of ur modem, such that the 'telephone' port is being 'splitted' up to P1 and P2
3. Now, take out another splitter which is w/o a wire at the end, and connect it to P1
4. Now back to the wall jack, make sure the port with states DSL/H.. has a telephone line connected to ur modem which says 'phone line'
5. The trick: connect a phone line from the 'phone' port from the microfilter(that is plugged in ur wall jack), the connect the other end to P1 of the splitter u just connected( the one w/o a longer wire at the end)
6. now connect a telephone to another P2 of the spliteer without the longer wire at the end
your home phone should all be workingmio voice is just free local outgoing calls for my home phone rite?

i'm talkin abt which mode will be able to handle the amt of connections on bt and not lock up the modem / router and give me disconnection to my internet such that i can't surf anymore.
previously had no probs on my smc 7904wbra modem cum router so i'm wondering whether i can connect my 2wire to that?
even now i have disconection whenever i try to use the phone .. i can't even dial out using my home line. wth! and i get 5-6mbps incoming bandwidth when i paid for 10mbps... any1 can help me out with my prob here and what's the cause of it? i'm still connected directly to my 2wire...
another q . would be will my 2wire be really able to connect in bridge mode to another smc modem/router barricade? when i connect i will use the rj45 cable to connect 1 side to the etherenet port of the 2wire and the other to 1 of the 4 ethernet ports on the smc. some1 said couldn't work this way... how tru e is this?

Line 2 is never in use. So there's only one homeline, anyway.
3) i've been reading alot and searching up on this mio in the forums over here and alot of pple said to put the 2wire in bridge mode so that i can use back my old router as a router and the 2 wire as a modem onli.. but will it really do any gd? eg. in bt ? is the smc able to hold up and withstand more concurrent connections than my 2wire? btw my 2wire model is hg2700...
Put and you'll know. Yes, you need bridge mode but I junked my 1-year old wireless router. It's not like it's a N-router, what for keep it, unless u play torrent.
4) if so, then would i need a crooss or str cable to connect frm my 2wire to my smc? and if lets say i have another smc switch as 4ports on my smc router isn't enuf for me. do i connect str or cross cable to my switch frm my smc?
I believe nowadays straight or cross will also work regardless.
5) what's the penalty for canceling my mio plan btw? actually wasn't me who signed up for it.. and for the ethernet cable than connects to my mio tv set top box from my 2wire what is it for? if dun connect can anot? still can watch tv as per normal? i'm on starhub cable.
http://home.singtel.com/mio/mio_plan_faqs.html
mio tv set top box is like your starhub set top box, except that one runs through ADSL network and the other through starhub cable network. u can dun connect it and u can watch tv as per normal from ur starhub service.
[/b]line 2? i only have 1 phone line. 1 reisdential home phone number.
what i meant is if plug out the cable that connects to my home tel from the modem, and connect directly to wall socket will still work anot?
so for torrenting which is better? 2wire or my smc? able to junk 2wire and just use smc for internet?

2. Of course you could, as long as it's the telephone socket telephone cable. How else can you use the phone after plugging out from the telephone socket?
But... since Singnet connections need the telephone cables to be plugged in in order to use the Net, by plugging out the telephone cable from the router, you probably won't have access to the Net.
3 & 4. I don't see why there's a need to use so many devices. Do you have a lot of money to spare? If so, please share.
5. Penalty - go to Singnet's website and download the PDF file to read the penalty.
You can cancel MioTV if you want. It's a free 6 months trial. No penalty for that if I'm not mistaken (the Singnet people tried too hard to convince me, haha)
The ethernet cable to the MioTV setup box is for you to stream the shows on TV and send it to your computer to watch...
6. VPI/VCI - 0/100 respectivelydamn sacars sia u
i'm askin whether i shld use the bridge mode and use my old smc barricade router (which i was using before the 2wire ) together with the 2 wire so that i can have a better setup and whether it'll be better for BT!! be coz it'll lighten the load on the 2wire as i think it'll not be able to handle the no. of multiple connections for bt. i don't know if it'll make a diff that 's why i'm coming here for advice.

Networking gurus pls help me out here with my current concerns as i'm already on mio and have no way of turning back the clock so that i can be on a normal singnet plan once again.
1) would i be able to use back my smc 7904wbra2 barricade broadband router which i'v ebeen using for so long all e while till this sick mio came along and gave m ea ****y 2wire? i need to reconfigure everything on the 2wire this sucks. and my smc gave me no probs whatsoever. bt was a breeze man.
2) if i unplug one of the 2 telephone cables from the back of my 2wire modem cum router would i still be able to use my residential home phoneline?
3) i've been reading alot and searching up on this mio in the forums over here and alot of pple said to put the 2wire in bridge mode so that i can use back my old router as a router and the 2 wire as a modem onli.. but will it really do any gd? eg. in bt ? is the smc able to hold up and withstand more concurrent connections than my 2wire? btw my 2wire model is hg2700...

This will cause the stuttering. Let the whole video loads, then watch it.
People these days are very impatient.
its not a matter of lettin g the whole video load i just get pauses every now and then in parts of the quicktime movie file. this doesn't happen in ie . and i download faster than i can play.
