Not that I believe it anyways. I still believe our silver bullets are 3 whole squadrons of VF-1Js and VF-1S.SS21

1) sensors, the ability to detect enemy subs,
2) stealth properties, how quiet? Submerged endurance?

So are we talking abt AIP boats?
Becos both have AIP and non AIP variant.I will make the question clear. What he/she mean is that My Scorpene Vs Sg Vastergotland.
Scorpene is 20 years newer and much more expensive, but Vastergptland has AIP.
In conclusion, Scorpene is better but Vastergptland is much worth it. Sg had order 2 Viking class delivery in 2016.

ST today:
The Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN) four Challenger-class submarines are the oldest boats in the navy. These subs were built for the Royal Swedish Navy in 1968.
Mindef said it may buy two Vastergotland-class submarines, built in the early 1980s, as possible replacements for some of the Challengers.
Swedish newspapers have said the deal could be worth one billion Swedish kronor (S$220 million
). The Vastergotland subs, named after a county in Sweden, will be refurbished before they are sold.
'The Swedish Navy is planning to stand down two of its submarines of the Vastergotland class,' said a Defence Ministry spokesman. 'Mindef is now considering whether this might provide the RSN an opportunity to enhance its submarine capabilities by replacing some of its Challenger-class submarines with the Vastergotland-class submarines.'
Three of the Challengers have been commissioned into RSN service, leaving the fourth, RSS Challenger, yet to be declared ready for operations.
Mindef noted that it has had 'a long cooperative relationship with Sweden in the area of submarines'.
It said it purchased the Challenger-class submarines 'for training and experience in operating submarines'.
Defence analysts said the Vastergotlands would give the RSN's submarine force more punch, as the subs have been fitted with a new kind of engine called 'air independent propulsion'. This engine allows the sub to stay underwater longer.
Challenger subs, on the other hand, are powered by electric batteries while underwater to ensure the boats are silent and hard to detect.
But the batteries need recharging every few days using the diesel engines. The motors are noisy and, to use them, the submerged sub needs to raise a snorkel so the engines can operate.
I think the price with AIP is very cheap.

I am hoping that Singapore can come out something on its own as Singapore have done lots of research and trials on UAV so maybe we might come out with something better than the Predator and Global Hawk.

Sg is trying to network F15, global hawk and arm predator. US now is willing to sell Sg, now it come down to the price. Imagine 1 Global for data collection, 2 predator upfront taking down the SAM and 3 F15 full load finishing the job. Awesome, it will be able to destory and of the base up north.
The negotiation is now on, but Sg might keep secret.

Singapore eyes Global Hawk UAV
Island state interested in airborne early warning RQ-4 development to expand surveillance capabilities
Singapore received a formal briefing from the USA on the Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned air vehicle late last month as it looks to improve its airborne early warning (AEW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT) capabilities.
Industry sources say Singapore is interested in a Global Hawk variant modified to conduct high-altitude, long-endurance AEW and airborne ground surveillance missions, and that this could potentially include indigenous sensor and battle management systems.
Singapore currently operates four Northrop E-2C Hawkeyes on AEW missions, but has in recent years been looking at a mix of new platforms for delivery from 2007-8, including Gulfstream G550 business jets equipped with AEW and SIGINT mission systems supplied by Israel Aircraft Industries.
Sources say Singapore confidentially committed to the G550-based solution several years ago, but also seeks long-endurance UAVs to meet its future requirements, although an acquisition is not imminent.
In 2002 the country began talks with EADS on collaborating on a new medium- to high-altitude, long-endurance UAV derived from the Euromale programme as a solution to its proposed low-altitude, long-endurance UAV requirement.
But the status of this collaboration remains unclear, and Singapore has also held talks with General Atomics on systems such as the Predator. An upgraded Global Hawk modified for the AEW mission would be an ideal complement to the proposed lower-tier system, and Northrop is already working to increase the RQ-4s payload to 1,360kg (3,000lb), which should make the modifications sought by Singapore feasible.
Securing US government approval for a Global Hawk sale is also thought possible because Singapore is not a member of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), which restricts the sale of UAVs that could deliver weapons of mass destruction. A South Korean request for information on the Global Hawk is unlikely to be approved because Seoul has signed the MTCR agreement.

Just reveal another secret, our F-16C/D cost only USD20-25mil a piece, cheap or not?
So only goondo will pay EUR90mil for a piece of so call 4G Rafale.I think the number has increase to 20 units due to the cheap price. The Rafale was last price for Sg was EUR 75 for every 2 units. I have to salute to Sg for the way it negotiate for such a bargain price, like the Formidable frigates it had brought at the low price.
