    • Same thing happened to my friend before. Can't remember which mlm though, the one at meridien. Anyways he also signed the contract before he turned 18. Checked it out with a lawyer my dad knows and he said if you are under 18 when you sign the contract, it is considered void.

So don't worry and take this as a lesson not to blindly sign things and not to trust what people say. If VE keeps bugging you just ignore them, nothing much they can do to you.

    • I'm currently waiting for ns, just graduated from poly and I'm going into NUS ME direct 2nd year which means I'll be in the same batch as you if u decide not to change.

I know how you feel about everyone saying that NTU engineering is better than that of NUS but my reason for choosing NUS over NTU is because i feel that people think NTU is better as it is so called more hands on and that's what people say is important in engineering rather than theory. However after consulting some experienced engineers and lecturers, I feel that hands on ability is much easier to pick up than to learn the theory and theory is what NUS is supposedly stronger in.

In engineering you must have both practical and theoretical knowledge but I felt that for me I've got more practical knowledge than most so now it's only fitting for me to study the proper theory.

In your case coming from A lvl's I presume you would not be so technically adept at hands on work but I still feel that practical work can be picked up more easily through working experience than theory can be learnt.

This of course is just my own opinion.

    • First time she said was her fault. Second time she felt she did nothing wrong but the tester said during U-turn she caused other vehicles to slow down and all but she doesn't think so as she checked all clear and safe distance. I also dunno what to say haha.

    • Thing is she's already completed all her lessons. Failed tp twice due to things she says did not happen at all... you know la the usual... Cuz i feel that she should go private now just to prepare for her tp as her instructor will be fixed but this one recommemded to her asked her to close her account first and this is what made us wary.

    • A friend of mine has already failed her tp twice under bbdc and is finding it too expensive to have to book at least 2 practical lessons before each tp test.

She is considering going private but one instructor recommended to her told her to close her bbdc account first before they can start.

What we are wondering is if this is standard practice or not and I would like to help her get more opinions on what she should do. Please feel free to share :)

    • One day you'll finally get over your ex. For now, cherish your current gf for she is the one who loves you and not your ex. She is trying her best to make the relationship work so don't make history repeat itself and regret again. I regretted once, thankfully 4 months later by a twist of fate we got back together again. Now I cherish her with all my heart and I realise that I could have really missed out on something really good :)

    • Now whatever opinion TS has on the matter is none of my business, I am only replying in response to the source cited.

My opinion is that instead of choosing to go with a viet girl over an ang moh girl, we should improve ourselves as men to become the Alpha-male capable of taming the ang moh girl or even the sg girl. To me I feel as a man I should always be striving to improve myself rather than settling for something more easily attained.

I used to be one who bitches and whines abt girls demanding equal rights yet expecting unfair treatment from "gentlemen". I've come to realise however that things are not gonna change and that by choosing the easier way out I'm not really improving myself, I'm just setting the standards lower for myself. My perspective on this now is that I should be strong and manly enough to be a gentleman and treat my woman in a more "princessy" way but at the same time letting her have equal rights.  This idea however I believe will only work if that woman loves me with all her heart despite her unreasonable womanly tendencies. Of course there are exceptions and nothing is for sure.

Oh and I would like to quote a joke I've come across, "A successful man is one who can earn more than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find that man." I feel that this is something to be strived for :)

All flamers are welcome but please let it be constructive.

    • Here's my honest reason for choosing to go to a Poly over a JC. I wanted to do either science or engineering but for most JC's to do science you needed to have done A Maths at 'O' Levels. I actually dropped A Maths cuz I couldn't stand doing something I didn't (at the time) understand the use of and the JC's which allowed me to do science I just felt weren't worth going to in my honest opinion. I spent the PAE period in CJC arts and it was one of the best times in my life but I knew I was never going to stay in arts.

Choosing Poly was quite straightforward for me. The course I was really interested in is actually considered a dumping ground (ME). I would love to see this "Engineering is a dumping ground" issue discussed but it is irrelevant at this point in time. What gave me confidence was that my 'O' Level score was less than half the cut-off point for the course so it did boost my confidence of having an advantage over my competition. Oh and NYP was just behind my house.

Apparently I wasn't the only on who thought this way during my intake. According to my lecturers, my batch did surprisingly well compared to previous batches and many whom enrolled also had good 'O' Level scores. I still enjoyed myself there and never regretted it. I met many good friends and played hard but at the same time was serious when I needed to be. I've now graduated with a COM and am awaiting my NS. I've also received placement offers from NUS n NTU. How well I fare in Uni is still yet to be known.

Now I'm not trying to promote myself or anything, I just want to say that the choice between a Poly or a JC I believe depends on whichever is most suitable for the individual to excel in and there's no best route, it just depends on the individual's interests and ability.

    • Hey I'm also E9L9! I have no idea why either. They didn't tell me, they just sent me the letter saying I'm E9L9. I don't think there's anything physically wrong with me though, and I actually took my napfa like 4-5 times just to get a silver and they give me E9L9. Wonder if it's a good thing.

Anyone else active in sports and pass napfa but get E9L9 like me?

    • Better go to a poly course u are interested in, be among the top of the cohort and enter uni. Get both diploma and degree. Of course provided u already have an interest in a relevant course.
