One reason why such buses were left behind on these mentioned services is due to the ads on those buses. They may eventually be sent out only after the ad contracts expire.

Oh? Are they are finally caring about us Sembawang residents and preparing to put their shiny new buses on a Sembawang route?
Most probably, training for either route 167 or 980, unless you are telling me that route 859 is going to pong back to Ang Mo Kio depot again (and what's with this endless route 859 ping-pong game? If they can't decide, just make it a dual-depot bus route, for God's sake).
Maybe it's time that SMRT starts to deploy new buses into Sembawang estate, just like SBST deploying their new Scania K230UBs into the developing Fernvale Estate (service 163).Think most probably this time round could be service 980, service 167 maybe. Someone spotted SMB7S with service 980 route details on the EDS too. Note that service 167 will be able to compete with those Scania K230UBs on service 162 too

SBS8108Y (HGDEP 165) on service 163 today as well, replacing SBS687U. Seems like service 163 have almost 100% Scania K230UB fleet today, comprising perms and cameos.Add on:
SBS825M on service 161

Let me see, still got services 167, 859, 980 (only a small proportion), 981 from Sembawang; services 61, 173, 177, 852 from Bt Batok; and services 852, 857 from Yishun. The rest all goes to WRI.

WRI is not suited for OC500LEs due the berths. (not the entrance/exit; if K230s can visit CGI almost every 10 minutes, so can OC500LEs do for WRI)
Unless something is done to the structure @ WRI, WLDEP won't get OC500LEs for now. Meanwhile, AMDEP and KJDEP will be taking these new buses, and to clear space, they donate buses to WLDEP.
Well, WLDEP can always take in the new Merc OC500LEs first and deploy them on other non-WRI bus routes.
