I beg to differ... Some ppl take risks... But for people like me who have more patience, will NOT take the risk during a crisis, i rather wait for the rain to stop and squeeze with some people than risking outiside alone. After all, we will all get to out destination, ur risk takes u there faster, but is it worth the risk?

Population and national investments - missing numbers

      Leong Sze Hian / Columnist

      http://theonlinecitizen.com/2008/09/population-and-national-investments-missing-numbers/

read the opening posting of this thread then he will know why.

Not all the about 40,000 babies born here are eligible

      for the little red book!!

      can u tell him?

      Dear lion

      59% Born by singaporean
0.59*39,490=23,299 babies born by both Singapore parents.

      [23,299 new babies + 15,000 new citizens - 1,000 “give up citizenship” - 17,140 deaths = Total: 20,159]

This amount does sounds very nice iznt it.. tallying with the govenment figure perfectly...

But that is assuming that those 41% whose child are born in singapore and parents are made of one singaporean, fail to register their child as Singaporean, yes not even one of them register their child as Singaporean... Surely that is not possible...
After all, you can assume that if u have a malaysian, chinese wives, you will want your child to be a singaporean too.
And these child are born in Singapore, if they are not willing to let the child take up citizenship, they will probably have their child born elsewhere.

So yes. Lionnoisy u are right, the figures by Zse Hian did not put this factor into consideration, but even after that, the discrepancies are too large to be explained away by this factor alone.

Statistics... You are jus given what they want you to know... how they manipulate the data, do they manipulate the data? We may not know...

But what we can know is, we have a problem here in Singapore, that is citizens here are unwilling to procreate.
And why is this so? the answer is blowing in the wind.....

The forum pages in the Straits Times for the past few days have been filled with similar complaints, and most of it complained about questions that “have never been seen or taught.”

No, the intention of the question is to tell you that the toasted bread lacks the moisture content and is the least "wet" of them all.

Intelligent students IMO will know that toasted means less moisture content, only smart alec parents will think otherwise...

Can you uproot from Singapore ? Are you as mobile as our new immigrants? Are you as adaptable as our new immigrants? Are you Global Literate? (you know what this means?)

Are you sure? Leaving behind your friends and comfort zone and start all over again for good? Are you really sure?

Yet, so many voluntarily drop their citizenship.

Yes, those are the brave enterprising people...

For me, I am not sure i can uproot from my home... afterall I kinda miss the la-la the leh lehs and the lees lees.... To integrate into a new culture, intelligence is not enough... you needs the GUTs...

If ever one day, I move to a greener pasture, it will certaintly not be due to the attraction of the greener pasture, but the push factor at home. When it come to a point where living in singapore are just plain pain.

    • Nymex Crude now below $80... Is it time to revise the decision? Is it more fair for us if SP calculate the prices on a per month basis instead of 3 mths? and base it on the actual amount spend on fuel, instead of its futures?

      Ya true..... Haha

Investors were ditching riskier assets ahead of this weekend's Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Washington, Mr Solar said, which was another negative for the Australian dollar.

"Unfortunately, at these times, the Aussie does get sold off when there are high levels of risk aversion."

    • I speaking as a Singaporean, really dun care if singapore win or participated in any sporting event.. Its is of no relevance to me, my spouse, my children, my dog or my mother in law. I dunno why the hype when Singapore won their first olympic gold in xx years... Singapore ping pon gold medal is bought using money, tons of money...

I strongly object what the government is doing now, pouring millions of our money to groom these foreigners.. What for? play ping pong? Please. Use the money for the good of Singaporeans can?

Farmer Jones tell his sheeps "You are sheep, and sheeps are meant to be fleeced."
And the sheeps bleated in unison, what wise words from the great leader!

Little did the sheeps know, without the themselves, they will not be any farmer!
