LBW apologised .......very gracious but is it too late? It will take a lot of time and effort for the public to forgive her for being a party pooper. Guarantee we will not hear from her for the next few years.
Also, one wonders how many people have twisted her arms to make her to apologise. The PM? Minister of Sports? Her colleagues?
Anyway, she should offer to resign and let the Minister decide whether to reject her offer of resignation. This is the resposible way.
By the way, how to continue our celebration after this fiasco....no mood already.
I agree..I think she comes across like those who is stubborn and will stand on whatever she "think" is right and will never apologise for whatever decision she made. I believe she's being forced to apologise by higher powers.
Hence, the apology is more like feel sorry for herself (aka "what have I got myself into") then sincere apology to the entire singapore, esp to AL and LGD.

Well I already stated that she's extremely welcome to go with me, but of cos she turned me down flatly and no way I can get her to move her butt even an inch.
I even roped in my relatives who are all supportive and did even tried to talk to them both. So far my mom seems to softened her stand but my sister said " I cannot stop him but I wont give my blessings" ...

"well every house has a difficult sutra"
In my case, they are more worry about practical reasons and $$$ is not an issue.
My sis is afraid that she cannot cope if she's alone taking care of mom who is suffering from some depression and from her angle, i am selfish son/bro who abandon the aging mom and expect the sister to take care of dear mother.
I cannot fault her for such reasoning which I might feel the same if the table is turned
Other things I dont worry much, but this one weighs heavily on me.

4. You did not at least give them a couple of hope that the family can get together or holiday together either in sg or oz.
Yeah I gave all the assurances and promises as I can. But I guess its hard to convince them still since its all still empty words. So I can only prove it in deeds.
Guess only can prove to them give time ... ..haizzz

Here's my take on the issue and sorry if they dont agree with some of you folks.
1. Has our society esp people in position of power has no tolerance for mistakes?? Assumed that someone goofed this time, must we cry for blood and forget what this someone's contributions??? What sort of graceless people have we become???
2. We are still learning the ropes of sport management. Mistakes are inevitable on the path to greatness, its really no big deal. If someone is to blamed, that it is STTA itself. The whole organization is tasked to plan for all scenarios, even however remote they are to an extend. How can the blame goes to the team managers and the coaches alone????
Besides, I am sure this is a painful decision to be make for them as well and possible they have consulted all others in the decision making loop where it is possible.
If you go to a leadership training course, or read a book on it. They always say real leaders blame themselves 1st and that speaks volumes about the leadership of a certain mp
3. With most due respect to Gao Ning, if I were him, I will be proud to think that it is his sacrifice for the sake of the team that led to harsh and invaluable lesson learnt by our associates and councils of various sports in sport management. His sacrifice is beyond a good medal itself.

Noticed that most of the NMP supported a by-election...and those "elected" ones oppose.
PM said they dun wan a "forced" by elections when mp decide to switch sides or resign...like what's happening/happened in other countries which destablized govt. However, this can be good or bad depends on the circumstances.
At the time being, I think they can compromise in this way, for GRCs by-election should be called if mp is unable perform his duty with natural courses, like death, sickness, etc. But if mp resigns or switch sides, then no.
This is my tot on this issue, so if there's a flaw in my views, do correct me.

Ok dear people, some updates:
I have done my medical check up and also gotten my "CNCC" from the police stating that I am a good boy..lol....by monday, will complete the visa application process and should be hearing from the oz high com in 3-6 mths. Hopefully, will get the visa.
However, recently there's a lot of negative comments and remarks about my decision to move from people around me. Furthermore, my mom and sister are not supportive. Lots of stress and pressure on this.
Anyway, I need comments, advice and suggestions about to renting a place which is affordable and near a train station in case I not getting a car anytime soon. I have some on the list like, Strathfield. Paramatta, Epping, Hurstville.
Thanks in advance.....

Thanks for all your comments and advice, keep them coming.
I will be staying with my auntie for a while until I get my own place. So the only main concern will be getting a job.
Have spoken to the immigration agencies as well as the Australian High Commission people and they commented that it is much better for me to look for a job when I am physically there. I think as long as I am willing to work from the bottom with the right attitude and realistic expectations, I should be able to land something, even if it is dish washer or fruit picker. Once I have my feet firmly on the ground then can I move on to something better.
In addition, I am trying to work out all the possible flipsides and have a plan to deal with them accordingly. Come to the worst, I can always come back thats why I rather rent my flat out instead of selling it at this point in time.
Ben,
I got a sponsored visa which is not that hard for me to get since I am just a couple of points short if I apply under skilled migration on my own

cos your second question gave me that impression .........
Actually, I'd say its an semi-informed.I have an auntie who's already there for more then 20 years.
She is aware of my hesitation and concerns and has been encouraginge me to cross over. She said dun worry about job or anything really, just come over and deal with the situation accordingly. Her point is that I will never make the move if I worry too much..
For me, the only concerns are the ability to get a decent job and the ability to adapt to the new environment.

Thanks for the url...
I am going willing to go in as anything...dishwasher or whatever just to get started.
While I still have about 6 mths, I am looking into short courses offered by ITE or Poly that makes me more relevant in the job market over there, like mechanics, electrician, etc etc.
Any suggestions there :)

I agree with VK..... if you can get rid of all your furniture etc before coming here, it would be better. Use the money that you're going to spend on shipment on new furniture here. Try to keep your personal belongings only.
Good luck on your new life in Australia!
Thanks. Now need to find a place to settle down...and a job too....

lol ok thanks kitty...I got the idea...
Most likely I will swap my new appliances and furnitures with my mom's since I am planning to rent out my flat anyway.
Talking abt flats, I think its better for you to rent your flat out instead of selling until you are truly settled in your new home and will not come back.
