I personally prefer Arianne seats, those found on ELBOs. I find them the most comfortable bucket seats around. The back of the seats is slightly curved with raised edges around the seat, so you kinda fit snuggly into the seats. Feels really nice.

From my experiences, TIB372J, TIB374D,TIB375B, TIB1248D, TIB1251T, TIB1252R, TIB1253M, TIB1254K are all good buses. TIB1253M and TIB375B held the speed record for me, 90-95km/h onlong Kranji road.

But avoid CSS193R at all costs. This bus has pathetic maintenance. When travelling at 50km/h, the entire bus rattles like mad and is as noisy as a spoilt merc hub.
The
rattling and vibration might have came from the gearbox, possibly
from a missalligned shaft. Misalligned shafts can cause excessive
and sometimes violent vibrations at high speed.Edited by Scania N113CRB luver 27 Aug `08, 12:55PM

Oh haha. Now that you mentioned that bodywork, it does bear alot of similarities. Esp the unique semi circle window sides. But the rear looks abit like the HK Scania Caetano.

Water is used to cool the engines. The hotter the engine, the more water it would consume.
There are fuel consumption rates listed in engine specifications but not water consumption, at least not a certain amount as it mainly depends on the usage and temperature of the running engine.

I would like to clarify that diesel engine isn't a steam engine, it doesn't consume water at a steady pace. Just that, its more like a tire. Over time, water will escape the cooling system in the form of steam. As water escapes, the coolant (in this case, is water) level drops. If the driver or mechanic or technician failed to top up the water level, the engine will soon overheat and catches fire.
An engine's cooling system consists of alot of pipings, like your average housing's aircon piping system. Along this pipings there are sealants/seals when theres a pipe connection. If any of this seal is leaking or faulty, water can escape the system. Thats why some buses always got a problem of "empty water tank" much faster than other buses.
Another note to take of, when i say steam, its like water vapour. Not those kind of boiling water when you boil water at home. If the water in the cooling system boils at 100 degrees and changes into steam rapidly, the cooling system will burst/explode. Cooling system cannot withstand high pressures.

TIB939A again. Of all buses, why this bus again? This bus seems to be a hit with media eh?

If engine is idling and bus is unable to move off, it can be gearbox failure or brakes cannot release.
If engine is dead, possible clutch (gearbox related) or engine failure.
Thats what i thought. Might not be true.

Should be a first batch Habit. Look at the burnt seat holders. Its the shape found on older Habits. Second batch Habits have higher holders or headrests.
Im worried that this is caused by another engine fuel leak. Fuel from the fuel pump or injector leaks down onto the hot exhausts and catches fire. There are a few O405s with this problem already. TIB541M once had a fuel leak before, which resulted in the bus being filled with diesel fumes. The bus has since been repaired. And since Habits and O405s uses the same OM447h series engine, its possible that this fault/problem might appear on any bendies.Edited by Scania N113CRB luver 21 Aug `08, 3:04PM

Let these lao ah ma and students learn their lesson.
I think lao ah ma is much better than some aunties. I've seen before things such as cursing at the bus drivers when such things happen.
It happens when i was waiting for 178. Coincidentally, theres massive congestion at Woodlands Checkpoint road. Hence 178's frequency was severely affected, resulted in us waiting for 25mins until the bus arrives. When we all reached woodlands checkpoint road, the SL told us that the route is diverted and he would have to stop at specific bus stops instead. Then this enraged auntie came up infront and told the SL that she wanted to alight here (which is far from the designated bus stop) so that she can walk home much shorter and faster. The SL refuses to do so and stops at the bus stop instead. The auntie became even more enraged and started hurling swearing words at the SL.I pity these drivers who have to go through such nonsense from people who are plain selfish.

FYI, please use your eyes to see properly before posting such threads. If not, get your english properly done up first.
Most, if not all, SBST have silver rims. B9TL and Scania K230UB those type are polished aluminum, not silver. In any caase if there werent made of aluminum, then such appearance is otherwise known as Chromed metals.

I was walking home when i see this horrid stuff on the floor below a HDB flat. Disgusted me!

Its from teh air compressor. Altho some Lances have funny sounds like what you had mentioned, particularly is TIB1013P and TIB1008E. FYI, turbo lag doesn't give out air sounds. Listen to the LO3x, which has the most obvious turbo lag problem. Listen how slow the turbo comes on (it has a shrilling sound). Otherwise you can take TIB844P and listen to its turbo system .TIB844P got turbo silencer problem, a some sort of valve or smth (cant rmbr its proper name) is broken/missing.

I would say the Lances have the worst suspension, especially so since it has air suspension, which is supposed to be more comfortable. Nissans ranked second from the bottom since it has leaf springs (steel) suspension.
That said, i've yet to encounter any Nissans that has loose axles or whatsoever that generates those kind of irritating cling and clanks when moving. Therefore at least it should score better than the lances. I've taken before a Lance on 853 whereby the entire axle suspension produces those irritating knocking sounds for the entire journey.Edited by Scania N113CRB luver 05 Aug `08, 10:24PM

Been there done that. I joined cycling club as my cca, hence when we had our first orientation ride there as a cca group, many got separated due to the size of the group and the crowd at ECP.
Cycling from ECP to Changi village will take around 1-2hrs , 1 hour if non stop without breaks in between, and 1.5-2hrs if there are stops in between. Total distance covered would be 20km. 10 km there, 10km back.
