Isn't it better to leagalised the trade to ensure the seller will NOT be cheated by any middleman and have good medical attaintion during and after the Ops
My view is that the poor, when desperate..... will do everything to survive. That includes selling their Kidney.... legally or illegally
The problem is that for every Buyer paying $30K for a Kidney..... the poor Seller might be only getting $3-5K..... with the rest of the $$$ going to the middleman or hospital.

I would support legalise the trade in human kidneys for transplants with the following condition.
* The trade MUST be regulared by the Authority with checks by 3rd parties.
* NO MIDDLEMAN be involved in the trade.
* Any Cash from the Sale MUST be listed in B/W & witness by a Lawyer.
* The list must include how much was promise to the Seller and what amount does the Hospital/Lawyer/Authority gets.
* Foreign Seller must show prove that His/Her relation knows of the sales.... approve Lawyers from both side must be there as witness.
I pity those who have to sell a Kidney for money.... just like I pity those suffering from Kidney failure....

It did work...... I seldom find the need to own a car, and wouldn't want to own one NOW. But other S'porean are too willing to go into debt JUST to own a Car for 10yrs nowadays.......
The funny thing is..... Knowing how expensive it is to own a car in S'pore, with ERP, COE, parking, fuel price.... etc (and it will only get more expensive). Why oh why would S'porean still die die wants to own a car

Lets ask ourselves this question..... How could SDP or CJS claim that they represent the ppl of S'pore, when the ppl of S'pore NEVER EVER voted them into Parliament ever since CJS is the Leader of the party
WP or SDA might not have done much in Parliament, as some forumrunner had pointed out..... BUT THEY ARE VOTED IN BY THE PPL,and could claim LEGITMACY that they have the support of the ppl.
If CJS or SDP wants the same legitmacy...... they MUST 1st get themselve elected..... then CJS style of questioning could be put to good use inside Parliament.

Both were subjected to the rules of Parliament, and to the bullying tactics and strategies of an overwhelming majority of the PAP dominated Parliament.

If one revisit History, one will note that the Rules of Parliament had been changed by LKY since the time after the Barisan Sosialis walked out of Parliament in protest to the shameful parliamentary practices pushed by LKY
Since the last Referendum for Merger with Malaysia, LKY has refused to allow Singaporeans to participate directly in the political process on any major issues that affect Singaporeans - in the same manner that the citizens in more enlightened countries like Switzerland and even Israel are open to.
Yes, get elected into Parliament - under whose game rules "in and out of Parliament" ?
So..... what had CJS 'Shouting' for sooo loong achived Anything Is PAP any less strong Is the Govt any less
'Self-Centred' Is the numbers of seats in Parliament
for the PAP getting less Anwar is now a threat to BN...... NOT because he is shouting out in the streets, but his is 'shouting out' INSIDE Parliament. If Anwar is shouting out in the streets..... BN could easily dismiss or imprsion him again..... NO NEED to have another "allegations of sodomy" leveled against him..... yet again.
Look at CJS..... CAN'T EVEN get his party or member in his party elected..... So, we could very much gives up on 'Him' trying to unite all other Opps parties together to challenge the Govt like Anwar did.....

The last election..... SDP got the worst result among all the Opps. WP & SDA both retain their seats..... with WP nearly winning another seat. SO, what had SDP achive...... if memory service me right.... less than 30% of the Votes in Sembawang GRC.
Won't the "more vocal and pro-active ways" of the SDP be better server... when used in Parliament
Until SDP could get themselves elected into the Parliament..... all they are doing is like a NGO..... cause they could bring out alot of concern (so could alot of 'Uncle' at any Coffeeshop)..... but they can't even get a chance to Vote or Question the Govt in Parliament (again, like alot of 'Uncle' at any Coffeeshop).
To SDP...... GET YOURSELF ELECTED 1st FOR GODSAKE
