Citizenship by birth
121. —(1) Subject to this Article, every person born in Singapore after 16th September 1963 shall be a citizen of Singapore by birth.

 

(2) A person shall not be a citizen of Singapore by virtue of clause (1) if at the time of his birth —

 

(a) his father, not being a citizen of Singapore, possessed such immunity from suit and legal process as is accorded to an envoy of a sovereign power accredited to the President;

 

(b) his father was an enemy alien and the birth occurred in a place then under the occupation of the enemy; or

 

(c) neither of his parents was a citizen of Singapore.

 

(3) Notwithstanding clause (2) (c), the Government may, where it considers it just and fair and having regard to all the circumstances prevailing at the time of the application, confer citizenship upon a person born in Singapore.

 

 

Compulsory primary education
3. —(1)   A child of compulsory school age who is —

(a) born after 1st January 1996; (b) a citizen of Singapore; and (c) residing in Singapore, shall attend regularly as a pupil at a national primary school.

 

(2)   Where a child of compulsory school age fails to attend regularly as a pupil at a national primary school as required under subsection (1), each parent of the child shall be guilty of an offence.

 

(3)   This section shall not apply — (a) to a child of compulsory school age for whom a parent presents within a reasonable time a prescribed reason to the satisfaction of the Director-General for the absence of the child at a national primary school; or (b) to a child of compulsory school age who is exempted under section 4.

I am sorry but I am born in 1989,I don't know if this is still against the law of compulsory education.

I don't quite get you why you would say I could be a solicitor?

I do hope I am making all the story up and is not happening in my life too.But unfortunately it is not.

1.yes,both of my father and mother are on the birth cert with their name,dialect,ic no,and nationality,my mother's nationality stated as malaysian,my father's singapore citizen.

2.I can't get an answer from them that's why I am no sure.

3.I think they are not legally married,but I am not sure about this.

4.Yes,I hope it won't be a very serious case.I just wondering what punishment if he got caught.

And birthcert is the only document I have.

Ya and I have already half year pass 18 already,I still don't receive any letter from army.

I think this is because my current address is not register to their database.

I really hope this issue can be resolved in a very peaceful way,I really need more information about what will happen in a different kind of situations.

I havev no idea about if my father's ic was confiscated at the time of my birth.

And at the time of birth,would the hospital ask about this issue?since my mother is malaysian.

and for the case my father is running away is about a divorced with his first wife,he had to pay his first wife money monthly,but he had not pay her for the pass years.

If so,what will happen to my father if he get caught?

For the last question,I think we shall put it aside first ok as the more I talk about it also won't help solve the problem.

yes,I have a brith cert,under the For official use there wrote "this child is not a citizen of singapore at the time of birth",to what I know it is different to others'.

 

I am 18+this year,and my birthday is on nov,once after this year birthday will be 19.

My father,59,is a sinpaporean,but he don't have his ic with him course he is running away from a case,so his ic had been conficated.

I heard he divorced before and he had to pay his old wife money monthly but I am not very sure.

My mother,46which is his second wife,is a malaysian with no singpore ic,she still have her malaysia ic which is blue one i think.And she stayed in singapore for many years already but she had never went to chop her passport,I think this is call overstayed.

Until now,I haven't got my ic yet because of my parents' issue.

I only study until Kindergarden 2 and I stopped not even primary school I went.Because of them too I couldn't continue study.

And I think I can't continue to live on like this,but everytime I bring up the problem and tell them what do they have in mind,they just kept avoiding it.

But I really think we need a solution for this problem,and there's the problem.

I don't have any lawyer friend,and I don't know how much is it going to cost if I go consult a real lawyer.

So everybody,I have some question here would really like to know the solutions for each or any suggestions are welcome too.

 

1.Is my current situation against the law?

2.Do I need my parents' ic in order to make my own one?

3.If we go and report to police,what will happen to me,my father,and my mother?

4.Will my father go to jail?and will my mother be sent beck to malaysia and never been able to come to singapore again?

5.Will I go to jail also?

6,Also,any suggestion for my current situation?Becuase I really got no idea what to do now already...

 

These are the question for now,once I think of more I will post them here again.
