    • A doctor, a lawyer, a little boy and a priest were out for a Sunday afternoon flight on a small private plane. Suddenly, the plane developed engine trouble. In spite of the best efforts of the pilot, the plane started to go down. Finally, the pilot grabbed a parachute, yelled to the passengers that they had better jump, and bailed out.

Unfortunately, there were only three parachutes remaining.

The doctor grabbed one and said "I'm a doctor, I save lives, so I must live," and jumped out.

The lawyer then said, "I'm a lawyer and lawyers are the smartest people in the world. I deserve to live." He also grabbed a parachute and jumped.

The priest looked at the little boy and said, "My son, I've lived a long and full life. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Take the last parachute and live in peace."

The little boy handed the parachute back to the priest and said, "Not to worry, Father. The 'smartest man in the world' just took off with my back pack."

    • A man staggers into an emergency room with a golf club wrapped tightly around his throat. Naturally the doctor asks him what happened.

"Well, let me explain," said the man. "I was having a quiet round of golf with my wife when she sliced her ball into a field of cows. We went to look for it and while I was rooting around, I noticed one of the cows had something white at its rear end. I walked over and lifted up the tail and sure enough, there was my wife's golf ball...stuck right in the middle of the cow's butt. That's when I made my mistake."

"What did you do?" asks the doctor.

"Well, I lifted the tail and yelled to my wife, 'Hey, this looks like yours!'"

    • "Although there is such a thing as cpf, i believe that one day SGD will depreciate in value until its 100 times less than it used to be."

Yeah, agree with you. Most of our CPF is used to pay for HDB flat anyway. By the time we retire, the CPF in our a/c would be peanut to last thru our old age.

Also, the the forever inflating HDB flat, it would be real funny but sad the day we see 3 rm HDB flat going at S$1 million.

      My personal feeling is this.

Singapore being small, outwardly dependent and open, some jobs can be subjected to economic turns. During the period of Sars and AEC, banking went up the smoke.

Trend and rumour can also drive job fear/hope. Remember the incidents of insurance companies underpayment to policyholders? Insurance selling went up in smoke, now it's back in the vogue.

Absolutely true. If your only stable source of income comes from the seat you are seating on and someone tries to steal it, wouldn't you do something about it?

Btw our forefathers were also immigrants.

If you want to reply, I suggest you read in the context of what I wrote and not what you think I wrote.

Not tax and money the PAP is after. Would they be that stupid?

Just cream off, by say X%, on the return of our reserve can made them richer than increasing GDP. And we, the citizens, don't even know the exact reserve to begin with.

All this years, the PAP has been facing a slow but steady declining support base. By bringing in the foreigners, this will increase the support base of the PAP. At least, let this be a temporary or a last ditch measure to hold the tide of change.

Now I know some people will accuse me of generalising. But hold a second. At another posting, someone accused me being naive. Yes, the foreigners can also vote against the PAP - no doubt about this. But we are talking about trend and prediction, not individual reaction.

Who are these foreigners that come to our shores?  Using a scale of one to four where I would classify one being as follows: The highly sort after scholar plus enterprenuer.

Are they anywhere near the scale of one? Are they the Bill Gate of Microsoft or anywhere close to an entrepreneur, not to mention the highly sort after scholar/entrepreneur that the world is after? The answer is no. All of your can see for yourselves, I need not go into this.

Most of them are from regional countries where the standard of living is poorer and the quality of life is also poorer. Singapore is a paradise to them where they can earn more, have better quality of life and enjoy richer standard of living. Singapore also allows them to plug into a first rate, readily-made infrastructure and first-class technology.

They have the best of both third and first worlds. They can save more, enjoy better quality of life compare to working back home and they enjoy labour/skill/wealth mobilities that their poorer fellow countrymen can only dream about.

If they become citizens, would they not be grateful to their host country?  And vote for status quo?

    • "I join this company last year in Sept for an overseas project in Middleeast."

For your first job, have you got a written agreement with the company, spelling out clearly the term of employment ?

"The Sentosa project is a major project which involves close to 60 people in the team."

For the Sentosa project, did you not asked the management about your scope and you area of responsibilities? Were you briefed by the management?

"I received a job offer from my previous company to take up a senior position and therefore I submitted my resignation letter at the 3rd week of June which means my last day of service is at the 3rd week of July."

Your last days of employment with the second company was on the 3rd week of July so how did you reported for work on 4 Jul or 5 Jul?

You offsetted your leave for earlier employement with the GLC company? What benefit for you in doing so?

Have you signed a proper second employment agreement with the GLC company and have you told them clearly your date of crossover?

"They also accused me of stealing some confidential information of the company as well as some laptops from the company."
"The most ugly part of the thing was that this company took my passport from my drawers and retain it and dont want to return to me."

Retaining a company property can be an offence. Such case can be proven in court. But it would be harder to prove about the confidential information unless the confidential information is inside the notebook.

Did you took their notebook? Else why would the company do a tit-for-tat with you?

It do you lots of good to seek legal counsel.

    • You all remember 1 or 2 National Day rally ago, what LHL told us?

On how paying the Ministers top dollars was justifiable given the important roles they played? And he harped on how WKS kept terrorist at bay, allowing LHL to sleep sounding at nights?

Lets see what he going to say this coming rally. I suggest he does the right thing - lock WKS in Selamat's place.
