    • yea…agreed…like in the previous post….the army regulars get a miniscule bonus. only LTC and above get pay hikes. for what? to attract talent? i don’t think so. their pay is already high enough to attract people to work harder for the job

    • Ah...not his fault....he isn't the only one who objects the pay raise and wishes that everyone gatherers under on banner to protest against the who issue.

as for the answer to the new paper poll, it's: [A]

    • Speaking of pay increase of civil servants, most only get a on time bonus, as seen by the army regualrs (assuming that they are civil servants too) while those at the top get pay increases. So how in any way does it help to attract talent? By encouraging people to rise to the top? Nono. people don't need an increase in the salary that the top pple get to strive to rise up the corporate ladder, or rather, the government's equivalent.

Stop kidding yourselves and acknowledge the fact that the increase isn't necessary. Help the poor and the middle classes. only with everyone's support will you actually reach greater heights. A vice around everyone's throat isn't going to help. Except increase the size of your wallet (which i guess. no. i affirm. is the main motive)

    • Why does it feel that nothing much will be done even despite the great amount of negative sentiment that is displayed so blatently? History seems to be proved true again and again....when will it change?

I believe that the people of singapore still have faith in the government. (of course, choices that we have is another matter altogether) But they are all concerned about the insignificance of what general public sentiment does to change policies that are meted out by the government. It is like a large voice that doesn't not seem to get heard. Or rather, it is heard, the matter brought to a debate, but in reality, nothing much is achieved.

So what will happen if say....ten thousand post to display their agreement. Or disagreement. Will it be sufficient to be taken notice? Or does it take half the nation to go marching on the streets with placards and banners to be noticed and acknowledged? (of course, i don't advocate that. No one sane enough would...in singapore)

Has our political clout diminished by so much?
