    • Those in favour of raw milk says:

In face of these facts (the facts that pasteurized milk is unhealthy) -which are undeniable-what has the Pasteurization Party to say? Instead of compelling dealers to set up expensive machinery for turning raw milk into something that is definitely not what it sets out to be — a nutritious, health giving food — let them pass legislation making the dairy-farmers produce clean, raw milk — that is milk pure to drink with all its constituents unaltered.

The above was published in Magazine Digest - June 1938
Armchair Science is a British Medical Journal

Note that they are advocating for Clean Raw Milk is up to now, is impossible to produce.

That's not true. The Western culture has lots of unhealthy fastfoods and junk foods. The Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures too have lots of unhealthy food, Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Mee, Mee Goreng, Chicken Rice, Teochew Noodles, Carrot Cake, Nasi Goreng, Prata and ....... And most people eat these simple carbs on a daily basis.

The incidence of heart diseases of Singaporeans is higher than that of Americans. Singaporeans are getting obese. Look around, a lot of people are overweight. And being thin doesn't mean you are healthy. And being certified healthy by doctors doesn't mean no heart problems.

Eat less simple carbs and less fat. Eat more veggies. lean protein and complex carbs. The way you cook them makes it delicious. I can cook fried charsiew brown rice so delicious that it beats yong chow fried rice.

    • After reading about the ill effects of Pasteurized Milk by sgforums TS, I searched the web and found this:

Got Milk? Make Sure It's Pasteurized
      By Linda Bren

Pasteurization, since its adoption in the early 1900s, has been credited with dramatically reducing illness and death caused by contaminated milk. But today, some people are passing up pasteurized milk for what they claim is tastier and healthier "raw milk."

Public health officials couldn't disagree more.

Drinking raw (untreated) milk or eating raw milk products is "like playing Russian roulette with your health," says John Sheehan, director of the Food and Drug Administration's Division of Dairy and Egg Safety. "We see a number of cases of foodborne illness every year related to the consumption of raw milk."

More than 300 people in the United States got sick from drinking raw milk or eating cheese made from raw milk in 2001, and nearly 200 became ill from these products in 2002, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Raw milk may harbor a host of disease-causing organisms (pathogens), such as the bacteria campylobacter, escherichia, listeria, salmonella, yersinia, and brucella. Common symptoms of foodborne illness from many of these types of bacteria include diarrhea, stomach cramps, fever, headache, vomiting, and exhaustion.

Most healthy people recover from foodborne illness within a short period of time, but others may have symptoms that are chronic, severe, or life-threatening.

    • What about oven roasted chicken with skin on or won ton soup with lots of veggies? They are healthy natural food.

It is actually too much saturated oil and simple carbs that makes food unhealthy. They both cause heart diseases, cholesterol problems, diabetes and weight woes.

    • THANKS FOR YOUR INFO

Luckily we switched to non pasteurized milk for quite a few years.

Actually 2 - 3 cups of low fat milk is good for people who are keeping their weight off and the calcium is great for our bones too. Razz Razz

I wonder how tall Fish is.

Most actresses are underweight because that's the way they can look slim on TV.

But it is unhealthy to be too underweight.

Now I know better, it is good to be slim, but better to be healthy.

If you are Asian, then lose some weight. No need to feel that BMI is stupid. It gives you just a guide whether you are overweight or not. It cannot tell you about your health. Wink

    • I am now Asian Bmi 21, at 49kg. Even if I get to be 45kg, I am still within healthy Asian Bmi range.

Do you know Fish Leong was 49kg and she went for treatment to be 43kg? Isn't that unhealthy?

If you don't know , check out Asian BMI and post your answer here.

      Hope to hear from you!!
