hi guys, was just wondering, what leather black shoes do you guys rate as the best shoe to wear in division, in terms of comfort, and doesnt hinder your work to do stuff like chase suspects, or using force to arrest them(kicks i mean)...and where do i buy or get them?
i know they recommend some zipper boots thingie, but what do u guys think is the best boots for everyday patrol usage. the hush puppies kinda sucks.
btw tiggerific, i'm POC-ing in one more monthhh woohoo!

the way i see it, its just a sad tale where:
two guys bang into each other and just refuse to back down.
there would not be and issue if they were both not trying to uphold their egos for duno what reasons, and just apologize and walk away.
if sorry has been said and all, why cant you just walk away? its not like
he would chase you and take you down and cuff you or something right?
like i said earlier, dont see him as a policeman, see him as a normal person and you will know what i mean. think of it this way, if he wasnt a policeman, you wouldnt even be here kicking up a big fuss about tis isnt it?
forgive and forget lah. this is small issue. if not you can sprint around in crowded areas and start staring contests for the same thrill again, and maybe if you bump into a policeman again, you can post it here.
on behalf of the police force, i would like to apologize for his lack of emotional control when you bumped into him. like i said earlier as well, POs have feelings and these are out of control sometimes too.
oh tiger, im passing out only in Mar 08' -sobs- LOOOONG WAY TO GO. but ending my block 1 soon!

where's Tigeriffic when you need his wise words?
well what happened here is a case of human emotions and nothing more.
yes, police officers can issue you tickets, not just TP. so dun be surprised.
from what i see, the condition that the paper that dropped was probably quite bad after it fell. this leads to super alot of BAD issues that potentially the policeman was going to face, seeing how our paperwork is a controlled document. furthermore, doing paperwork is really a chore and say u have a stack of documents right, like beforehand you had interviewed people one, you cant possibly go back and look for them just for a re-interview, know what i mean?
so in that few seconds he just had to release all the frustrations of this happening and maybe all the stresses of being a policeman. add that to the menace of STOMP-ers. you have to understand, all these forms are quite serious, we might even be charged if some of these are ''vandalised''.
however, im sorry for you being a victim of this. it is really hard to put on the police uniform and pretend like you're someone else who is a saint of some sort. if you think of it like that, you would understand it better.
to the issue of the above, yes he should have informed the public that he could come down to station instead of demanding.
hope i got this right tiger!

training's great! getting used to the ''culture'' around here, but seriously cannot wait till block 2 comes along. block 1 is like super boring with all the PT crap...and with some of the ns-FIs. especially for PDT, they expect more out of us regulars...haiz always kana F-ed.
and still kinda struggling with IPPT, walking unsteadily along the failure/pass lines. confinement really sucks! ARGH. worst still its till saturday noon. so its the same feeling as burning your off days i guess.
haha but training is the worst part i guess, coz i have this impression that it would get a little better once we're in division...which is kinda why division men get fat huh. haha!

i understand that we work on shift work system and there is a 16hr shift for two days and two days off after that right...
and i know that many of us would have to come back on our off days to do stuff like in-service, CSSP, and all that...was just wondering...how often would that happen? like in a month, how many of our off days would they ''revoke''? and if they do, would they take BOTH our off days?

hello! oh yeah end of 2nd week. panther is quite siong for us leh...his leg raises 45 degree like always count until forever one. and dont believe rumors of max 20 push ups per punishment...its bull. but yeah i think he's actually very nice. and i dun dislike any FIs.
oh and we have to carry 5kg rice in our backpacks and run long distances, which is like...everyday.
pdt is also quite tough, its more like a pt actually instead of a lesson IMHO.
summore as some of u might know i am a zero fighter for pull ups. so i've been marked...and carry 15kg for PT.
anyone knows how to break the zero
barrier?
and so far my OC is very nice. but i heard he was an FI before and his training at old PA is also very siong. anyone trained under him before or have seen is ''dark side''?

I know the answer to your question. The reason for the officers wearing the tight pants is because that regulars get access to a special police tailor when u pass out if you choose not to wear the standard issue. So some choose it lah, coz they like it tight!

Then your uniform would be tailor-made lo. Unlike those pants that they issue in HTA, which for me the leg is SO not tight. Guess too tight also i would have problem in the SOC.
-
-
-
what kinda question is that???

well i just wanted to ask the officers here as im going in soon, i heard from my friends at the previous intake that i missed,
and they say that they can take home their uniform for
alterations. could that be the reason why?
oh i was wondering what kinda tightness would seem inappropriate, coz i like to tailor my smart pants to be kinda small, i dun like the ''saturday night fever'' kinda pants, i feel very conscious. hahaha! izit alright to alter and make the pants legs diameter smaller? what can you alter in the uniform and what can't you?
thanks in advance.

hi kaz, sorry i pmed you a mistake, that one is for 2nd interview (aka panel).
well it seems that u made it past the first interview...just dont worry. the psychometric test shouldnt be a big factor to anything, just as long as you did most of the questions honestly and gave a truthful answer i think it should be okay.
if you did not make it this time it could be because of you education qualifications prior to this...as some qualifications make your entry harder into the force.
but if i knw your process, all you gotta do now is wait....and pray. IMO, the first interview was kinda nothing much, its the panel that you gotta worry.
good luck and hear from you soon.

haha me yeye?
i not
yeye la i also tension already. but after loony's advice i managed
to calm down abit...just duno how i'd manage inside coz i heard my
ippt gotta pass to book out every week. guess i'd have to burn a
few weekends that means.
trying to relax now everyday...but trust me, i wont be a quitter! (in case that's what u mean)

haha not yet...soon lah coz im supposed to be remailed the package to my new address. i went to collect the previous one at my old house for fun also...its alot of black and white though.
getting very excited! sometimes i duno why i go head first into this even though i know my body isnt "well-equipped" for this yet (i think im what they call zero-fighter)...but i know this is what i wanna do for the next 5 years. coz can always train for it rite?
-
-
-
yo thanks bamboozler! sounds like u're real fit! i'm kinda bad at these...used to only get bronzes back in secondary school, and hardly exercise anymore for the past 3 years.
oh okay i shall work on that right away...coz im just worried about the training phase...which would consist of ALOT of push-ups and all rite? yeah im just worried that i'd slow down the squad or something if i cant do alot alot. like what does regular PT in camp for regulars consist of? like how many push-ups and starjumps and sit ups on avg?
pull up bars? i've been wanting to get those pull up bars that you can fix at home yourself above the doorways...but i cant seem to find any! anyone knows where to get them? and how much are they coz i quite budget haha.

hi guys...i'm soon to be a regular, as said in the earlier thread i posted. hopefully going in next month, as i missed this month's intake by a few days AGAIN.
ok some questions about fitness...i'm left with about one month till i go in...so panicking my health now...i just did some budget training at home and here's what i came out with...(warning:pathetic) sorry if i make yall lose face ok.
i do dumbell raises which focuses on bicep(read somewhere) sometimes with 3sets of 12 occasionally but today i went to see how far i can go...i tried a method which i read that are practised on pns in their training days which goes like:
O
N
E
ONE
T
W
O
TWO....etc etc (one pump each time) all the way till ten...
of course i tried too but gave up at SEVEN. =P
after which i realized i AM VERY WEAK =(=(=( so i pushed myself further and completed about 72 dumbell raises in sitting position.
question: am i screwed? pls tell me how to realistically improve in less than one month...it'd be better if i can train at home with my 5kg dumbells or cycling. i mean, im sure the regulars who sign on would be those beefcake-boys or IBRAHIM SEHAT types...and i dowan to be "arrowed" in training. =(
THANKS!

hi...just wondering u said about a sergeant without NS. see im a soon-to-be regular without ns with a poly cert rite...which is a sgt rank i think.
was wondering will my pay forever be less than those who already serve ns? or izit only during the first 2 years of my 5 year bond, after which i'll recieve 2.1k~?
anyone can confirm this?
-

-
Hey guys!
I was awakened this morning by a call from an officer at police recruitment.
"Hello is this xxxx? Yeah i was wondering if you were coming to today's bond signing?"
"Huh when? I wasn't informed????"
"Oh but we mailed you about it, and its this morning."
OMG! :X
It turned out that they mailed me a letter at my old address, and its quite strange because i NEVER received my police letters there, from first interview to panel interview to medical were all mailed to my new address.
So i have missed out on this month's intake AGAIN. In addition, i have to re-fax him a copy of my nric, which i did before months ago coz he say he misplaced it.
Pfft. One more month of nothingness. And i think its like so scary to suddenly EH GO BOND SIGNING today, then 5 days later go camp in all of a sudden.

HEY thanks ALOT man!
Yup i have already recieved the letter from mindef which invalidates my NS letter, the blue colour one which says that i wont have to serve army if i remain as regular in SPF.
As i said earlier i had also went for the Raffles medical interview on the 18th of this month...but i havent heard from any party since, neither spf or raffles. You mean that they will send me the results of my medical izit?
And also ive been going through like a million forums, and based on the "standard" timescale it means that i'm going in around september? Any confirmation of this? Hmm, it'd be good if i can know like roughly when are the dates of regular intake in a year so i can not waste time bumming around at home. Any idea on this?
THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY! you've been a great help so far!

hey there, i've decided to post here after having zero replies on keeptouch. hopefully you guys can help me. PLEASE I'VE WAITED DAMN LONG!

PRETTY PLS KIND SIRS and MAAMS, PLS READ!
i am currently a diploma holder from SP, just graduated like a few days ago. i applied for SPF as junior officer back last year i think in september, to get a feel of real police life, and save money for university and help out with family's pay. this is after careful consideration and discussion with my uncle and me who is a SSI. he also advice saying that it would be easier to transfer vocation to let's say CID or any other unit PROVIDED i finish NPCO 5 years. after that i can decide if it's worthy of a life-long career.
at the time of application i held a PES D for investigation of some heart irregularities but in early march they released me with a PES B, finding nothing wrong with me after some long weeks of testing.
ok that one background only, so what happen is i went for 1st interview in november, 2nd interview in december. then in early march(this year now), recruitment officer asked me if i can rush CMPB to issue me my pes status. sadly CMPB issued me one week to late and i missed the intake. shortly after, i faxed over my NEW PES status of BL1, and they say ok wait till april for news. so i waited till april, still no letter and when i called recruitment, the officer said he misplaced my PES letter, asking me to come down and give me personally.
the same day later i was issued a letter from CMPB to report to school 2 on september(ARMY). so the next day i went down, gave my new pes status and that letter as well this reporting letter.
a week later on the 18th of may, they asked me to go for medical which i did. and on the 21st of may i called them up and they ask me to send over my new DIPLOMA from SP, which i have done too.
OK now time for questions,
1. how long more do i have to wait until i enter HTA or at least hear from them about it or my bond signing? i keep calling and all they tell me is to wait, and i cant get a job coz of this.
2. i didnt go for my napfa as i was too busy in poly with freelance, and i dont think i'd have passed aniwae. i'm slightly underweight. i was hoping that we have PTP or prep course or something...but do regulars have such a thing?
if so how long would POBC be for me? any advice?
3. i asked recruitment officer about my earlier pes status of D upgrading to B and my being slightly underweight at 52kg(below 55kg requirement) and he say dun needa worry as i have cleared interview, and medical for a pes B shouldnt be a problem. what do you all think of my chances of employment though? and would training be very tough for me?
PLS ADVICE ON ALL. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
