Adding on to my previous point and attempting to steer this discussion in the right direction,
If we are looking purely based on the perspective of "need" as the title says, then I have the following recommendations:
- Service 190 and 960 require high capacity double deck buses that offer greater passenger comfort across an expressway journey
- Service 222 and 291 require bendy buses with three boarding and alighting doors to quicken up boarding and alighting activities along heavy loading points
- Paya Lebar Road/Upp Paya Lebar Rd needs bendy bus services in the interim before Circle Line is complete. Most of the passengers in the industrial developments rely on the bus services as a feeder to the MRT station before and after work. Single decks on Services 24, 135, 43 etc cannot cope with the demand while the double decks from 28 and 76 are not well-utilised because people are not moving to the upper deck, and boarding and alighting activity is slow.
Now that's what I call deployment based on NEED. Not some random fetish or desire to see a particular model on a particular service.
But too bad that SBST does not have any bendies

I grew up in the 1990s, turned six in 2000- the last generation of childern to grow up without technology completely taking over them. I still remember my kindergarden days. My kindergarden was in Bedok South that time. Kept on staring at the Volvo B10M MKIVs DM3500s in Bedok South on Service 12. No chance to board that time and finally boarded one in the early 2000s and loved it. I rided on a Merz DD O305 twice and I think I boarded a MKII CAC on Service 9 that time.

List what you think here. Personally, I feel that Service 24 should start getting new batch of K230UBs to de-merzlise it. Why new batch? New batch does not have the bumper issue so it can enter CGA tunnel. 145 should get it too. Generally, Volvo B10TLs should be used on feeders/shorthaul as they use more fuel. All VO3x batch 3 should be used in CBD. On a side note, is it very common for MKIVs to be used on shorthaul/feeders?

ZF seems to be the norm here, 150 ZF B9TL versus 50 Voith B9TL...
Voith just doesn't work for all vehicles... Some B9TL bus captains say 'four gear' slower than 'six gear' in pick-up (initial acceleration)
While Habit Bendy BC would say that 'three gear' accelerate faster than 'four gear' ones...
It just depends on the combination... Curry works well with fish head, mutton, Asian food on general... But will it work well with french fries, burger and Western food? Not all the time.
Well, Volvo MKIV DM3500s are quieter than the Striders because DM3500 uses Voith while Strider uses ZF. Vehicles that are more suitable for Voith should use Voith and those suitable for ZF should use ZF.

Have anyone been on any quiet Volvo MKIV Striders? I boarded 2 or three of them before and it was noisy. I been on quite a number of Volvo MKIV DM3500. Most of the DM3500s are quiet while one or two them I have boarded is/are noisy. The noisy DM3500s just need some engine tuning by the respective depot to get it quiet. Wonder if it is the same for the Striders.
