Keeping oil in its barrelled from requires regular maintanence as it is after all a flammable and hazardous commodity. What about rental costs of a factory and the respective costs of hiring respective manpower?
2) In Singapore, im sure you need a permit to do so. How long would you need to apply for it and for how long does it take for you to be granted one, given the protectionist policy of our governement towards the oil industry?
3) Assuming you get points no. 1) and 2) right, what about your sources? Its definite that you would be purchasing oil at its already lofty market price and even paying more for it if your unlucky. Upon doing so, what about the costs of import tax, duty tax and the relevant logistical and transportation costs?
The relevant costs as stated above makes your proposal excessively risky and outweighing the potential benefits if any, assuming oil price DOES continue to rise. Probably oil will have to hit USD$200 for you to break-even and hit it fast before your creditors come knocking.
These rumoured speculators participate in the upward price movement of oil through speculation of oil related derivatives. Such future contracts would normally include the barrels of Brent Crude Oil and North Sea Sweet Crude as the underlying asset. Its highly unlikely that they(the speculators) would hoarde oil in its physical form and thus create an aggregate supply shock to the world economy.
What you said are valid concerns. Do business here may not be as easy as one may think for many reasons.
I think there is virtual warehouse concept. Have you thought about it?
Not a single drop of oil involved. Only digits.
Just like playing commodities on stock market. Alas, I no no much about stock market lah. Only layman layman onlyz.

Well, the truth is, neither you nor anyone in pore can say for sure where abang is. Try to disagree to this statement and convince me otherwise.There is no official report as to in which country is abang now. There are only some info that he COULD BE in indonesia.
'Could be' is not 'IS'.
but I wonder, does this mean, no one knows for sure where is abang? By this, does it mean that no one can say abang IS in pore?
If so, could there be an official report informing the public the actual status that no one knows for sure where is abang and that investigations are still on-going? Would this not be more clear report to the public? So many could have, before this week, still assume that Abang IS still probably in the pore based on some info they heard that there is no evidence that abang has left.
I would like to suggest that there be a report that says, there is no evidence that abang has not left the pore ALSO.
This is also a form of TRUTH.
So, its a Truth that there is no evidence abang has left the pore. AT THE SAME TIME, the other TRUTH is that there is no evidence abang has not left the pore.
This kind of report would make things clearer as some naive people may not be able to comprehend well, that is, failed in basic news / language comprehension.
But now, since the news says there is some clues from the captees that abang MAY BE in indonesia, then, I am glad the public is now informed about it. This makes a world of difference.
don't know does not mean no.
don't know means don't know. Clueless.

Hello folks,
Oil is a commodity.
Its rumored that speculators or investors are causing it.
Is it legal to :
> setup a company and buy oil in bulk and keep it somewhere cheap. Given that oil price will continue to go up, would it be legal to keep buying oil but hold it, as in not to sell it until a later time when the price is even much higher , and profit from it?
> gather as many investors as possible, collectively buy as much oil as possible. Keep for sometime until the supply is showing problem?
I mean, if the rumored investors can get away with doing that and seems that nothing can be done about price speculation and investors, can I say that it is legal or can get away with this?
Pls let me know what you think about this idea.
thanks!

Well, for a start, things like the poly black box, which I was asking for more info in another thread.Sorry, maybe my definition of accessories is too wide. I mean the normal accessories like HID lamps and convex mirrors but also anything else like add-on devices, tools and things like decals and stickers of any sorts. Variety. To have variety varied enough, this shop should be a specialty shop.
Thanks.

Hello friends,
Just to get a rough idea from you,
what kind of price would stop you from even attempting to go under an ERP gantry?
Of course, the ERP must only operational during peak hours.
I start first, to me personally, if ERP fee hits $4.50 or higher, I would definitely try all my means not to use that road. This is assuming company wont pay and pay for your such expenses.
and if , hypothetically, all major roads implement the same, I would consider giving up my car or convert to weekend car, if that is possible.
So, the psychological limit for me would be $4.50. Now, that is not too far away.
I ever paid at least $3 for 1 pass under a ERP gantry.
Then, I imagine, if my hypothesis comes true,
there would be very few cars running on the road. And what if the worst were to happen, that is, all ERPs operational most time of the day? Even if priced at different rates for different times?
Majority would be affected.
Then , public road would have a new meaning.
Somehow, something tells me, this would never happen because:
1. why have less oil revenue?
2. why have less car servicing , maintenance, insurance revenue?
3. why have less road tax collected?
4. why have less parking fee collected?
5. why have less or no more ERP fee collected? And how about all those money spent on the gantry manufacturing?
6. why have the roads under-utilized?
And then, eureka! , enlightenment, I suddenly understood the whole picture.

There's this shop at Syed Alwi Road, just by the corner of McDonalds and they carry a whole range of add ons to your ride.
Stuff like their full range of LED bulbs, all those accessory stuff you find in the megamarts like Giant, solar films, car mats, gauges, grounding wire, antenna wire...and the list goes on..
Stumbled upon that shop a couple of months ago when I was driving around and decided to have a look as add on parts for my car are just not easy to source, esp from the megamarts.
Price is reasonable too!
Thank you very much Jeez88. Will take a look today. Going there at 12pm.Cheers!

Been there, seen that, no good. Not specialty shop. Just an ordinary common and limited variety corner in Giant.I am looking for a real professional specialty shop for car accessories which includes any accessories not found in standard factory-made cars.
Specialty and Variety are what I am looking for.
Thanks very much for suggesting anyway.

Hi folks,
I need some tips where most people go to search for car accessories.
Which shops are popular and where are they.
Ideally, they should have good range of products and good customer service and reliable.
I went to a famous carmart and they sell only cars without accesories. Somehow they separate the business.
any tips would be much appreciated.
Thankyou!

This is because, one way for us to judge if the political party is good at management is to look at how the party itself is run, even with a small limited resources, how well can it make use of it.
So which party can make use of it's resources to the maximum extend? PAP? WP? Or SDA?
Resources can also mean public funds.
There is no competition between a non-fund manager vs a fund manager when it comes to managing resources like public funds.
Fund managers are the ones who really knows what to invest as they are the experts or specialists in this field. I do not think non-fund managers should make investment decisions.

To the TS,
Well, what can I say, technically what Lee said is not wrong.
Not wrong, but I would add, that there is a purpose for existence of a Balancing Force , lest any future leading parties become COMPLACENT.
I am sure this word is no need further elaboration.
The People should have the chance to see their debates on all public-interest issues and judge them too. It would be quicker to spot bad decisions and public can overthrow bad performing ruling parties of the future.
Thus, I do not see that it needs 5 years. 1 year of bad performance can call of new electoration, in my humber opine.
So, I do not feel as worried though I agree that bad ruling party can affect a nation in some ways.
Case in point, under the leadership of Bush Jr, see how much progress USA has achieved. and it is still standing after 911.
;)

Dear TS,
In reply to your post, I like to say,
1. Allow much more private sector competition in gubby-related businesses in the PRIVATE sector like NTUC fairprice in order to lower down prices of daily neccessities like rice;
2. allow more competition in PUBLIC TRANSPORT to lower down prices of public transport like Bus service, MRT service (now 1.5 players only);
3. allow more public utilities competition like Electricity whose price has gone up substantially ;
4. allow more flexibility in using the HDB;
5. allow more subsidy for University education for all citizens , wherein more should be given to citizens than PR foreigners and non-PR foreigners;
6. allow the People more control over their hardearned money, to use their CPF OA for emergency situations like, child's University expenses (local and overseas uni);
7. allow the People more control over their SA and MA cpf accounts to be used in all forms of medical as well as investment purposes, up to extent of using 95% of them. 5% will be frozen until they retire.
8. encourage the People to run for presidential elections such that the People can vote for their president, who should ideally be someone as great as the late, venerable Mr Ong and ideally non-partisan.
9. encourage the young to speak in public, to agree-to-disagree on policies in a legal and lawful manner wherein the message is sent across and not violence. Income tax REBATEs for all good suggestions heard in public and all good debates where people agree to disagree openly but peacefully and high-EQ'ly. In other words, let the people learn of a standard, publicly acknowledged way to do so.
10. encourage more competition within parties so that with competition, a better leader emerges. It is known fact that competition produces the best.
11. encourage more leadership renewal wherein the worst of the performers get replaced by new blood which can come from new citizens pool.
12. encourage new immigrants to become politicians to run for seat in parliment by slightly improving current way of granting citizenship. Anyone foreigner qualified enough should be eligible to apply for citizenship to run for MP or Major or Minister. Of course, a high standard selection body should be inplace. This body has to be non-partisan absolutely.
13. create body of auditors to audit the auditors completely. they must non-partisan absolutely.
14. allow more 'live' telecast if not delayed telecast of 'live' recordings of court cases that are of Public Interest. Let the people judge also. Real gold no-scared fire burn.
15. allow the people to appreciate more how wonderfully our investment funds are performing by publishing annually the B/S and P&L of major if not all investments. At least, a body of elites who are non-partisan , entirely, must exist to audit these financial statements.
16. encourage more non-partisan elites to sit on the boards of directors of major and local companies, listed and non-listed.
17. investigate into the phenomenon of the situation of the singapore dream of world cup 2010. What happened to it? Why is it the current status? Was enough paid to players and since their salary hiked, what achievements have they to show ? Should citizenship be granted to more foreign players to replace most of current squad so that maybe got more chance? Also, investigate any kaykaylonglong if any, not that I suspect there is any.
18. provide more subsidised or even partially free legal services to help consumers fight for their rights against errant service providers. access to Legal service should never be a privilege for the filthy rich only, not that the poor have no access. they have less access.
19. last aint not the least, encourage parties to unite with other capable parties to form an alliance to compete in the next electoration. The wholesome aim of this is to allow more technically eligible voters the chance to vote. So many never know what is voting like as they nebber done it before. This is to allow the people to participate in nation building process more, to make them less apathetic which actually affects their lives almost completely.
wow, so many leh . I no energy say liao. Sian ah. I talk to you folks later.
The Oppos has their plates full. I still got more to say. Like casinos and crime rates, national security and accountability , transparency, justice and equality so as to achieve....

Hi ,
The documentary showed that:
1. All NKoreans will give all glory and credit to their leader despite all the sufferings they receive living in NKorea. Their leader somehow gets all the credit.
2. They are so brainwashed , there seems to be nothing much to distinguish their FEAR for their leader and their Respect for their leader. The result of decades of PROPAGANDA.
3. People who showed resent to their Leader gets locked without trial forever and tortured in an inhumane cell. The relatives of this man gets locked as well but in another 'family' cell. If anyone escapes, their entire family is executed brutally.
If anyone says anything bad about their leader or complain the ration given is too little, they get executed.
4. Although painted as great leader, each year many NKoreans risk their lives attempting to 'migrate' to SKorea, a land of true DEMOCRACY. They would rather risk their lives and their families' lives to escape from hell. They live in constant fear of secret police.
