i prefer shining force to langrisser. i played langrisser from 1 to 5. 4 and 5 are much better imo cos can buy tons of weapon and cast a wide range of spells. there is the cheat to go back to previous scenarios to train up oso and oso the secret shop cheat. however when playing 4 and 5 u would need a lot of planning to determine which final class suits u most.

when playing shining force the best part i like is the promotion. feels like a great sense of satisfaction. esp for shining force 2 where i try to promote every one at level 40. my favourite characters were the healers cos they are the easiest to train. lol

in part 2 the best characters imo are the mastermonks. there are 3 in total, sarah, karna and sheela. karna is the most powerful of the 3 cos she has wonderful stats if u promote her at level 40 and bring her to level 99 after promotion. in total there are 2 vigor balls to be found. one at the tree where sheela was bathing and the other one at the 'secret forest'

the next most powerful characters were peter, slade, earnest, ricky, the hero and gerhalt. they sure pack a punch with their awesome atk stats.

i like the part where we can find secret mithrils and promotion items. there are alot of mithrils hidden in the mountains on the world map. usually at places where part of the mountain is jutting out or in some cases caving in.

golden axe and bare knuckle both quite similar. golden axe can use magic if collect lots of potions. the girl final magic is some dragon and the dwarf is volcanic eruption or something.

street of rage/bare knuckles darn nice. i keep playing part 2. got quite a few secret 'life' bonuses to pickup. fav character is max cos he can score the most pts. part 3 got secret characters lol. quite funny. got the sissy policeman ash and the kickboxer kangaroo. ash is the most powerful in part 3.

i rem TMNT was really popular. all guys would be collecting the figurines. i collected raphael. other toys that were popular were lego and wwf figurines.

they use to show animes in the early weekday mornings at dunno ard 830 and oso on sats from 1pm to 230pm. then there was this anime i liked a lot known as 'mo shen tan dou shi'. basically it is about 5 warriors and each warrior can control an element. they are called 'huo yan shen' or 'shui shen' etc.

other animes i enjoyed watching were like 'jia you jian gou', gundam wings, 'miao shou xiao chu shi',dragonball Z and the list goes on. cartoons would include looney toons, tom&jerry, R&R (rescue rangers), x-men bla bla.

during holidays/festive season sometimes they will play this 'china' cartoon about an old men and his 7 children. all his children were born from magical gourds hanging on this special tree. then each children had a special ability like 'qian li yan ', 'shun feng er' or immense strength and stuff. the youngest was abducted when he was still inside the gourd by the bad guys and the rest had to go rescue him. i rem the youngest was the most powerful cos he can suck things into his magical gourd. those were the days. lol

    • dun need one. just ask the textile shop ppl they will tell u what u need. be careful not to be cheated ar. the cloth should not cost like 10bucks per metre. cos some cloth look the same but the cost is hell of a difference.

when painting most imptly u need to lay the cloth with newspapers underneath.  cos the paint will seep through the cloth de.

    • hmm if u need cloth most likely u need cotton cloth. its the kind ppl use for banners. can get it at almost any textile shop de. just tell textile shop ppl u need cloth for painting banners. they noe de.

chinatown has got a lot of textile shops in one of the market. forgot wats the name liao. if not can go to bugis and buy. the market should have.

1m of the cloth cost somewhere from $1.70 to $2.20.

    • shining force 1, 2 and 3 were my all time favourite. 1 and 2 was on classic sega and 3 on sega saturn. the later developments like shining force neo bla bla are all on PS 2 and they sucked.

somehow i feel that shining force spurred the creation of turned based panel-style RPGs like FF tactics and Disgaea.

i played shining force 3 on disc one only halfway and my sega saturn brokedown! argh!! that was quite a pity. sigh!

I believe quite a lot of ppl have heard of shining force before as it was one of the popular titles in classic sega

can try pasta restaraunts oso.  an example is waraku pasta at marina square. with their wide range of pastas, i believe they do cater to vegetarians.

    • wah lots of memories lei. hmm lets see....

      early 90s....

      • i rem my 1st game console is called nintendo(cant really rem liao) . anyway its the kind that uses cartridge games. they have those like 64-in-1 or 128-in-1 game cartridges. that time super mario was really famous.
      • somewhere mid 1990s came the sega console. then sonic the hedgehog was one of the popular titles.
      • when i was in lower primary, there was still pri 7 and pri 8!!! now phased out liao.
      • smart students can immediately skip like one level. say go from pri 3 to pri 5. now oso cannot liao.
      • marbles was popular in the early 1990s.
      • dragonball card were like super popular with guys! i collected alot.. spent like a few hundred bucks on them. so many version of dragonball cards. got like part 14, part 15 bla bla and the type where u need a 'card reader' to read the 'value' at the back which is from 01 to 99.
      • rem playing hop-skotch. but looks like nowadays not popular le.
      • like to read roald dahl and enid blyton books
      • i collected casper and wendy the witch comics. its the kind that is same as archie. now cannot find casper comics liao. archie, casper, wendy all cost only like 50cents nia when there was bookfair in my pri sch.
      • mee rebus and nasi lemak in my sch cost like 30cents to 50cents depending on the portion.
      • some soft drinks like coke and sprite were still available in bottle form.
      • bubble gum was still available
      • collected my earth stickers and tom&jerry sticker books. my earth sticker book can stand to win prizes . there is this middle portion where u have 6 pictures named A to F. if all 6 stickers of one picture is gathered, one can claim prizes. i rem F is the one where ppl have higher chance to win. if i am not wrong its a picture of a fish
      • reebok shoes were popular until nike came along

i tot zell's limit break cause the most damage? if u keep alternating between his 2 easiest(but lowest damage)to press combos the accumulative damage would be fantastic, esp when u get the longest time limit for his limit break.

    • well it does happen in reality. we have got to be practical. it happens in sch and in the workplace. of course in the workplace it is more prevalent. i wont say everyone is putting one a false front ba. but when it comes to self interests, almost everyone will fend for themselves. there are of course some who are selfless.its up to one to judge for themselves.

i totally agree with aremeis  and wai leng on what they have said. instead of being skeptical, learn to deal with such situations and take them as valuable lessons learnt. after some time, u will be glad to find that u have grown to be a stronger person and deal with ppl ard u better. if one decides to close up becos of past painful experiences, it is only gg to place a strain on future relationships with ppl ard them. one will nvr be happy tt way. i have witnessed frens who are like tt. i myself have become more positive and optimistic over the years and i am happy most of the time without being affected by these issues.

      2) Make use of Homework Forum if the stuff are not too tough
      3) Do teach and learn from your friends.

there could be other reasons as well. catknight may possibly be a late developer. some ppl  are unable to grasp certain concepts even after repeated practice.

ff8 will take more than 1 week ba.it is difficult to go hardcore when there is no sch holidays. even with sch hols i dun think alot of ppl will go hardcore and complete an rpg in one week.

i got to complete the game only after 5 or 6 years after having the game lol. i got it in sec sch but only completed it when i was in uni yr2 last yr.

    • just be yourself ba, but put in the extra bit of effort to converse with the girls.

but got to be realistic also la. i mean u cant expect to click with all the girls de right. for instance if u are quite cheena type and u wanna impress all the ang moh pai girls when u dun feel any connection, i dun think it is practical.  i mean u can sense whom u can click with de, as for those whom u cant seem to be clicking well with, at least be a gentleman. girls will appreciate gentleman gestures like opening doors for them, help them carry heavy stuff, support them if they are climbing an obstacle bla bla. im speaking from my exp from the camps i went to.

try to explore ur strengths. if u listen to say mandopop can tok about recent album release or ask what kind of music they listen to. there will be bound to be ppl listening to pop music de. can also tok about happenings in the entertainment circle also. then if say a certain girl likes a certain singer and u happen to noe the song of that singer, u can sing it along with her. it helps a lot in bonding.

jokes will be good to entertain. but if u are not good at jokes can give funny comments instead. if not can try to teach them new games/stuff they haven come across b4. it should arouse their interest.

    • doing well in exams does not necessarily equates to one being smart. smart ppl dun need to study much for exams. those who do and score well are not really considered smart imo.

failing exams does not mean that one is stupid

failing exams can mean a few things:

      1) one is not adequately prepared for the paper. it could be due to last min preparations or one just could not be bothered(bo chap or pure laziness).

      2) lack of understanding for the subject and unable to apply your concepts.

      3) the subject could be one that is considered alot tougher than those that you have previously encountered.

      4) the subject could be one that is very subjectively graded. eg literature.

i would not use the word stupid on ppl who failed their exams. rather i would use it on ppl who spend 2K to 3K on woks and pans after some persuasion by salesman or believe in miracle medicine sold by conmen.

    • ok those with acne problem may wan to go to this clinic in toa payoh central. its called universal peace and is located beside kimage. its a bit lock cock and it looks like any other ordinary clinic. if not can try national skin centre. i know of another clinic near to north pt and opp the mrt station. dunno the name though.

the doctor i went to has many years of exp and i was reccommended by my mum who heard about it from her fren.

      my feedback about this practioner

      1) very good results. my acne cleared visibly in one month time and within 2 months my acne all cleared up. in 6 to 7 months time i am ok le. and now its been like 2 years liao and i dun have any recurrence of acne prob

      2) medication given was oral pills called ro-acutane some creams and facial wash. the creams and facial wash were super effective.

      3) the doctor seems to be interested in maximising his income and will reccommend this and that treatment or prolonging ur duration of consultation.

      4) fees wise a bit ex at 1st. it was 200bucks for one month for the 1st few months. then it became 200bucks for 2months. i spent like 1k to 1.3k in total. but it was worth it la. anyway market rate is like 150 to 200bucks per month.

      my suggestions:

      1) do not go for facials. they will worsen ur condition cos they will squeeze ur acne and make ur face red. the acne may go deeper into the skin and worsen the condition instead.

      2) no pt relying on facial wash from pharmacies. they wont work. cos i tried using quite a few brands le.

      3) getting help from GPs is very effective. if not can refer to the national skin centre. doctors imo provide the best solution

i am speaking from exp cos my acne caused my self-esteem to go down. when it cleared i felt much much better. not trying to publicise for any clinic here, just offering some advice for those who need it

medication given depends on ur condition and the practioner. those with milder case may not get ro-acutane but may get antibiotics or something else. some of the oral pills have side effects like drying up of ur face or causing liver problems. the doctors will fully explain the effects of the medication given.

national skin centre treatment is cheaper. like 70bucks per month or something.

    • bukit merah central market (opp bukit merah interchange)- they have this hum chim peng store. try the coffee and pandan paste flavours. the fillings are not overly sweet and the skin is soft and thin. yummy!. 50cents for each.

bukit merah kopitiam beside the library - chicken rice store opened by ex-staff of the reknowned mandarin hotel chatterbox. the chicken rice comes in a very nice presentation and the meat is juicy. however it is charged at a steep price of 5bucks. a bit too ex i find.

prata house at upper thomson road - famous prata store. its kosong prata is super crispy and has the exture of biscuits.

i visited a GP before and he help treated my acne problems. my scars lightened a lot and my frens were like wow cos they can see the drastic change.

    • here is a list of nice food i tried from food centres and kopitiam.

      1) beach road market (near to lavendar mrt)- thick freshly made belgian waffle with delicious chocolate sauce. the store is located on the upper level of the food centre near to one of the extreme end staircase.

      2) beach road market (near to lavendar mrt)- pork rib noodles. its near to the waffle store and they are famous for their 'chilli' noodle. nice!the store is located on the upper level of the food centre near to one of the extreme end staircase.

      3) alexandra food village (opp queensway shopping centre)-famous for their nice bbq food. go try their avocado juice and other fruit juice smoothies. smooth and thick fresh juices.

      4) changi Village food centre - famous for their nasi lemak. the best is the most corner store.

      5) changi Village food centre- red tea longan dessert. very rare and special dessert u wont find in most food centres. it consists of this red tea jelly with ice carvings and longan topped with carnation milk. the red tea jelly exudes a subtle sweet taste.

      6) changi Village food centre- there are 2 stores selling bak chor mee side by side. i tired one of the stores and find it not bad.

      7) yishun ave 5 kopitiam - it is located right next to the famous 7-11 for toto and 4D betting (chong pang).they have this hup lee been hoon store. if u noticed they have branches all ard singapore in food centres. this is the main branch ( i think) and its been hoon is really tasty. do try the fried chicken wings. yummy~. this store has been around for like 10 plus years liao. the nasi lemak also not bad.

      8) chong pang nasi lemak - located opp khatib camp in one of the shophouses. it is the corner unit. the food is good but i find it rather ex.

      9) maxwell food centre - the hum chim peng is famous. its run by a father and daughter pair. the interesting thing is u have to fry ur own hum chim peng. definitely one of the best hum chim pengs around. sells 7pieces for 1 dollar. 2 basic flavours - sweet or salty

      10)  maxwell food centre - there is this porridge store that is only opened in the wee hours like 2am i think. maxwell should have other nice food as well but i have yet to try

      11) serangoon garden food centre(near to chomp chomp) - there is this char kway teow store owned by an elderly couple. need to Q quite long though.

      12) Parkway parade food centre- wet char kway teow with lots of garlic. expect to Q a while. the char kway teow doesnt look very appealing cos its not the usual dark char kway teow. however the flavours are locked into the noodles. hygiene wise i dun feel too good about the store.

      13) amk S-11 (next to jubiliee building) - famous for their 'rasa sayang' western food. the food is definitely above avg but the prices have been gg up quite a bit over the years.

      14) amk central food centre - there is this vincent western food stall. not famous but it serves decent food fare.

      15) bugis food centre (near to si ma lu guan yin temple) - there is this store with freshly fried carrot cake. the frying skills are so-so cos if u order black carrot cake, the colour is not consistent. however the carrot cake is freshly prepared and gives a springy feel when popped into the mouth.

      16) bugis food centre - there is this porridge store somewhere in the middle. smooth porridge served with crispy you tiao.

      17) tiong bahru market - roasted meat store very near to the famous lor mee store. the char siew they have is juicy and tender. yummy~. there are other nice food stores in this market but i have yet to try out. the market is famous for its pau and roasted meat stores.

      others

      18) liang seah street - there is this traditional dessert store with chinese stools and marble tables. the dessert they serve is fantastic.

      19) liang seah street - taiwan eatery called lai lai. food is nice and very affordable.

these r the stores that i can think of at the moment. do u guys have any stores that u wanna reccommend?
