Good to know that there are those who remain concerned about the Sichuan victims. However preparations for the ceremony had begun more than a year ago. Whilst the Sichuan earthquake tragedy does put things into perspective (re costs that could have been used for relief and rescue), scaling down the ceremony at such a late stage could have thrown a spanner in all those months of preparation. The Chinese (being Chinese) would not have settled for anything less pompous.

This chap is really good. He used to be a striker at Inter Milan (he was in the squad during the semi-finals in 1999 against Man Utd) but didn't quite cut it. Ancellotti had the foresight to transform him into midfielder and it certainly paid dividends..... He can find space, create and take free-kicks. Too bad he is a little short.

Sometimes you do see in matches where a member of the defending team goes down injured in his half and inadvertently plays the offensive team onside. How would the referee at that instant know whether the player actually sustained injuries or not when the game was going at a neckbreaking speed? This actually applies the same logic as the above situation.Perhaps the fault should not lie in the referee for interpreting the rules to the letter, but rather on the part of the Italian defence for not knowing the rules well. Had the Italians stuck to RVN and not tried to spring the offside trap instead under such a situation, they might have prevented that goal.

Wonderful match. Dutch team's counterattacking football was breathtaking at times.
The first goal looks offside but according to BBC, it was actually a brilliant piece of officiating:

But what looked a desperately poor decision was, in fact, a brilliant piece of officiating, according to the chairman of Austria's refereeing commission Gerhard Kapl.
Kapl said Van Nistelrooy was played onside by Italy's Christian Panucci, who had been injured seconds earlier and was lying behind the goal when the Dutch striker scored.
He said the goal was "100% correct, without any doubt", quoting article 11.4.1. of the refereeing code that states "an opposing player cannot be offside when one of the last two defenders has left the field of play" - as in the case of Panucci.

As far as I can see from some of the posts made by Man Utd fans in other news blogs, many of them are frustrated by Ronaldo's lack of an assertive commitment to stay in Old Trafford and would not be too upset to see the back of him. SAF should make the quick buck and sell him. Invest those monies to deepen the squad and get a good crosser of the ball.

Well, Sasuke was in denial all the time until he gradually accepts that Madara was telling the truth about Itachi. Who else besides Konoha can Sasuke blame for all this mess? Naturally he would want to destroy Konoha. Can't stand Sasuke now. Weak-willed.....

Sasuke is an idiot. Itachi sacrificed his life, reputation and family to ensure the stability of Konoha and the country. On the other hand, Sasuke is again being manipulated to destroy what Itachi had sought to achieve. Sasuke is a true idiot. Can someone shoot him?

I prefer the movie although in terms of storyline they are not very similar. The display in the movie of the ninjas' powers is pretty good though. Worth a watch.
