So, currently, there is little point in buying diesel car in S'pore, but if the govt would not be so narrow minded and think that diesel is dirty, I would consider buying a diesel car in the future.
Diesel has much better fuel economy than petrol and currently, diesel is cheaper than petrol, though diesel price in increasing rapidly. For city driving, diesel essentially feels more pwoerful than petrol cars because of higher torque.
Hyrbrids to me are quite rubbish unless you drive at 40km/h or less everywhere. It feels sugglish and it cost so much more than their normal counterparts. The fuel saved is not very significant either, not significant enough to cover the extra price you pay for the car at first. Until they improve hyrpid technology, buying hybrid cars now is a waste of money. That's my opinion on our environmentally 'friendly' cars. You may not agree with all of my points, but I am still entitled to voice out my opinion here :)
well its proven that a E90 BMW M3 is more economical than a toyota pirius....lol

not only cos of that...but also in naturally aspirated engines...its due to the valve overlap...especially for those running camshafts with long duration....meaning that the exhaust valves take longer than usual to close to help with the "scavenging" effect...but as its damn long some of the gases from the intake stoke escapes out into the exhaust valves...and the exhaust pipes and valves being very hot...ignite the air/fuel mixture....

240 also can.
of coz...but its kinda dangerous @ those speeds....like one of my colleagues was killed when his bike was lifted up into the air suddenly and with him in it...due to the crosswinds @ NSH....he was travelling in a BMW tourer bike somemore...but it was like 250 if i was not miskaten...

The thing here is that the owner(Celica or M3) is seeing more than what his car is meant to compete with, probly reaching into higher reign
And then finally a race will show the true capabilities
again this shows how knowedgeable you are...when people compare cars they compare STOCK TO STOCK....which is why even comparing cars like the M3CSL vs a norm 360 modena is considered as unfair...unless u take out the 360CS get it? you dont compare modded cars...there will never be an end...

and to TS...if you think that your car is fast...think again....theres no end to all this "i am faster than you" stuff...its all about how deep your pockets are....and IMHO honda make better engines than toyota....YES the new celica SS2 is quite a good car...i'm not saying that its not fast or what not but its just that its not the BEST get what i'm saying?? no offense intended...

For a benchmark, try racing with a stock M3(E46,E92 die alr cfm

It was supposed to be about a Celica which is supposely "good" according to that thread's TS had rear drums, which is inferior.
In the end, dont need to flare up over drum brakes...drum-to-disc brakes conversion can be had for a few Ks(though it void the warranty).
HELLO??? its not a fair apples to apples comparison...M3 is inline 6 and its displacement is totally different from the SS2...M3 is RWD and celica? FWD....i think its more fair to compare it to like the DC5R...and for the SS1 to the GSR.... thats more like it...and i can stand by my statement that the celicas of today can never be as good as the good ol' celica GT4 ST205....i think all of you have to agree with that...and yes the SS1 to me is just considered as a car with the looks thats all...drum brakes...C'mon!!! toyota have obviously gotten the recipe wrong....@ least the SS2 is much better so much that their engines are used in lotus and in SUPERCHARED trim :P

the quattroporte was meant to compete head on the the BMW E39 M5 in terms of performance only...

its a pretty car considering its a scaled down version of the camry... and i am quite a fan of the camry...
what do u mean by detuned engine... can u explain...
cant believe that u are a fan of the camry...the camry's suspension is so soft that it makes riding a boat across a choppy sea more comfortable....brakes are so efficient that u might as well use your shoes to try and stop the car...steering dosent even give u any indication whether are you on the road or not...who knows i mgiht not even know if i have a slow puncture??
