I think SMRT Buses used the front as to make sure that they have a common identity at the front of the bus, e.g. three piece windscreen. The Volgren bodyworked buses were used in ads and stuffs, so no surprise if they wanted to use a common lookalike front.

If SMRT Buses bought CapaCity buses, then would you say MB ripped off the Volgren front?

From Wikipedia. The front on the current OC500LEs are flatter than the ones found below.

Even if SMRT buy Irisbus or VDL buses i'm pretty well sure some peoples complain this and that..How ungrateful spoilt piece of brats S'pore had produced.Shoot or chop me if you want i dun give a damm

Getz.. ya. I think that Getz has bigger interior than picanto and the specs are roughly the same or slightly better. of course the price is "better" too.. wink.png

Getz 1.1 FC jialat sia,My fren driving it thinking of selling liao...He considering chnaging to either new Picanto or Proton Savvy 1.2AMT(Heard the AMT got problem due to drive by wire stuff)

      best FC: 12.9 km/l
      worst FC: 9.9km/l

comments: serves my purpose well, although FC can be better but i guess its around that range for auto cars

dun get too scared by other people opinion that the picanto no power cant climb slope or what, so far i managed sheares bridge, mscp, telok blangah hill etc etc with full load 5 people and groceries at the boot with no troubles at all. no such thing as engine stall cannot climb or roll down.

power and pick up wise, it is very good for its class already (1.1L). of cus dun expect it to be as fast as smooth as bmw, toyota or what.

it is a very good choice for a first car

Ok Bro will consider that also,Actually its the second time i owned a car,The first one was eons ago where i drive a 1990 Toyota Starlet which i rated one of the most reliable car..I always ride bikes compared to car.So which bank do you loan from?GE or Maybank? Can use CPF statement?

I ever sit in picanto & getz.Quite spacious for the car of these size.Reliability should be no problem for korea car since alot on the road.

Your friend getz 1.4 outrun by Perodua Viva 1.0 is due to Auto vs Manual & weight difference.Small cc car try to get manual if possible cos FC better & more powerful but since your wife is auto license & these ideal is out again.

I ever own a 1.0cc car before.Alone still ok but if fully packed can be out of breath easily.

Try to avoid turbo car.Maintenance, insurance & FC higher since saving is your first priority.

Try all the car u mention except turbo car.So u got a better picture cos everyone ideal is different.U are the one who drive everyday so must be your pocket & driving comfortable first.

Ok Thanks Sir,So my choice now is between Picanto,Savvy or Saga.Maybe my budget should be 30k the limit. So i think the CKD Suzuki Swif is also included

    • Probably 1 min is just my assumption,Maybe less. But the speedometer is just damm fast to over 130 which i dun think its 130.Maybe when Govt reduce those f***ing diesel tax then i will consider using Turbo diesel cars

    • It's hard to explain in details unless you've tried,Rolls Royce with the speed of 180 also quite quiet since its a bigger cc car.Yes i've tried many car models including petrol powered Sonatas.I've used to work at PSA as a driver driving those all new cars to their respective agents and shops. Its up to you if you still in doubt with me,I rest my case here.

    • One thing to take note that most European Turbo diesel cars can run compared tothier Japanese/Korean counterparts.Except the speedo is not accurate enough,TD cars can hit up to 130kmh(Which i really dun believe it,Tried my Uncle Sonata) in just 1 minute.I feel the 130kmh similiar to pertol powered cars 115kmh.

    • Think more of didn't top up enough water at the radiator,Bendy buses use more water than rigids.Another reasons to deploy OC500LEs faster than schedule or buy few WAB Bendies.

    • My Uncle saidthe reason why we see most taxis are fast are the turbodiesel for fast acceleration and most cabbies are hard charging drivers.(Always drive fast)

    • Turbo diesel have monstrous Torque,I've once sat in my friend's Peugeot Partner taxi 1.6HDI.He floor between 1st to 3rd gear at around 105kmh leaving a Proton Gen2 & a Vios eat dust but when comes to 4th gear the other 2 cars says bye bye leaving us nowhere to be seen.

    • Based on my observation i think there's no need to argue which is best.Every depot got their style of doing things and some of them are unpleasant ones.SLBP is similiar like SMRT AMDEP,Loves to take off the nut guard, jerky transmission but still the buses doesn't had much problem for duties. We must know that there's lot of old timer tech in SLBP,Their way of maintaining the engines are diff from the new tech at other depots.

    • New bus also complain cheh,I'm very grateful to both SBST and SMRT for buying new buses like B9TL,KUBs,18.240,B7RLE,OC500LE...At least they are better than MKIIIs,N113CRBs,UDs,etc and i'm proud to hear that my pen pal are saying that SG public tpt is more efficient than some of their countries.

    • I dun understand with some cabbies,Though they went through theories for VL and mostly driving all day some still got that kind of dimwit habit.Once inside a Citycab taxi,The driver non stop cursing and swearing at Motorbikes,OPC Cars,Luxury cars,Heavy vehicles.I just cant tolerate his idiotic attitude.I told him to concentrate more on his driving rather than others but he was unhappy.Upon alighting i told him that the road is for every motorists to use and not just for Taxis only and get on with life rather than grumble.KNS to board this kind of cabby in the early morning sial!
