    • “when they had to hunt the robbers in tekong, they did bother to bring out the BA for their troops going in… which did complain somewhat because they never trained in it ? “

Did SAF have any specific exercise that cater to hunting of robbers !!! No ? well there is alway the 1st time. For crying out loud ! The soldiers are deploy there to guard access point here and there , and some buildings ! The one that go try to flush them out was the Police swat team, gurhkas and the more elite forces – those have train with BA before. It is not like the ordinary soldiers are ask to put up BA and ask to charge or storm the building with it on.

Look like you are right, we damn need to train for things – that why they let Selamat out – so we get more training in hunting people with BA on !!!

it seem like the person who does not learn is you !!!

Don't understand you, we getting body armour now - you complain that should have got it sooner !!! If we got BA sooner - eariler verison one - now you be complaining it is now outdated, why we cannot get the better type in market now !!! Hello you complaining like Ah Ma !!!!

Buy earlier - you complain now outdated, buy later you also complain should have got earlier !!! You complain for the joy of complaining

Did any war broke out that we have to fight with BA ? Did any soldier died shot - that could have been saved by a BA ? - Answer is no, this clearly proven the decision to buy BA now is the correct and wise choice, to hold back till better BA is available, and when the regions is more unstable which is now which we have more likely to use it. Getting the equipment - when we best and most need it is the better investment and not getting it just because - it is out in the market, there will alway be newer and better stuff all the time, you just cannot be blindly chasing after it

    • Lionnoisy is totally out of point !!!

But T-rex – I do not agree with you.
So what singapore light tank project failed -there are lots of failed military projects – are you going to be like lionnoisy – keep pinpoint on the few failed one ?

SAR-80 and SAR-88 that came to nothing ? I disagree, the main objective is to a super cheap rifle that matches M-16 in performance which can be produced in huge qualities when needed. It was good and cheap – found buyers oversea, just because there is no war -which did not see it produce in huge qualities – does not mean it failed. It achieved its purpose.

upgrade to Bionix 2 not long after Bionix 1 was introduced? Sometime a produce design start a few years before production run. Thus 20mm was indeed the choice of most at that time – till folks see the 30mm in action in war. Unfair arguement of expecting everything can be forseen.

I disagree with you on body armour. May have been slower then other modern army, but why rush into it when we do not have war on. Also we our weather is too hot, and our modern soldiers run with PT wear also can drop dead …(they not real grunt like you) rush into implement the old generation of body armour, no need to fight all drop dead !! Think the timing was good, that we waited, at least better and lighter body armour.

SAR-21 – it is a good rifle, the standard version come out with its 1.5 scope which was good. Like you say – better sights have came up … and SAR-21 did come up with version that incorporate them, too bad it is available for special units and foreign countries only. So the complain is not about the rifle itself but it is not available to the common soldiers. This is a fair point.

Sound funny when the Chief clown is complaining – when all the jokes is done by them.

Cannot overtake ? How did the current 1st place guy get from 15th to 1st ? of course he overtook …. there has been lots of overtaking action , just because Ferrari does not have the balls to over take, that does not mean other will not !!! maybe the horse logo need to change to a bull one , then they have some balls !!!

    • Lionnoisy – “wow. This writer makes joke on SG military ability. He just thinks that the quantity makes any nation a military superpower. He forgets quality.”

In the first place this whole thing was a joke, the goal is unrealistical and prize money is too small to attract any serious working model. Local schools and universities - just money, the tech or knowledge, or the parts to do anything close.

Remember this is not USA – which you can get a small radar or night vision off the commerical shelf, a lot of the items are controlled items, while in USA – they are off the shelf which anyone can buy.

One must remember this is not for a remote control robot, but a fully autonomous vehicle - that will expect to do everything without any commands. For something like that - it will take years to develop the coding, and equipment intergration.

If we get laughed at - we deserve it - as it was too unrealise goal competition and goal !

Chinese women hardly date Indian men (although singaporean interracial demographics show otherwise) . Its their choice, to each their own I say. Whatever floats your boat.

Yeah Indian girls wont go crazy over me. But its not easy to please everybody.

I've been around caucasian women. They pay more attention to me. They actually DO look at me in a sexual way. They display signs of attraction. I like that. I feel easy around them.

    • Those are just attachment to the rifle - not really much of a improvement !!! They are attachment that can be attach to other rifles - even SAR-21 !

Can someone advice on the basic M4 issued to the ordinary soldiers of US - i don't think they come with any scope even.

Where and when Oz need to deploy to overseas?

The size of the fleet, even after 3 AWD delivered,

hardly can cover the back side!!

BTW,do u need escorts for AWD?

If so,u have less platforms to deploy to other theater.

If it ever come to war - the whole Oz fleet, troops ships and merchant fleet will be deploy !! Also most likely they will be part of a combine commonwealth fleet or Nato Fleet.

Even in exercise -they been doing that with US and other navies including singapore navy.

3 AWD delivered - cannot cover backside ? If position them at properly on the outer defence parameter of the fleet - they form a nice triangle defence, which is effective enough to cover everything. Even with 1 ADW in the fleet - your anti-air, anti-ship and anti-submarine will be increased !

The ADWs is able to handle air, surface and underwater threat, they do not need escorts.

I think the only thing "any" about his posts is that they are anyhow made, and in which anything goes.

Even if the Aust AWD is to operate miles away from any other ships alone. With its better radar, it will detect enemy 1st can can choose to evade or even if it cannot evade - its equipments and weapons - are able to take on any threats alone. Also when you get to a certain size - no matter how you wish apply stealth - you just too a little too huge to be effective, so may not be worth that little effort to just reduce it by a little percentage, but stick to proven design which give advantage in other areas.

Lionnoisy - AIR WARFARE DESTROYER main role is to escort the fleet ... with the whole fleet - the need of steath is less. Sometime stealth is not everything !!! The russia SU-35 and Euro-fighter are not stealth, yet they are giving F-22 and f-35 a run for their money.
