    • i think the real problem comes when singaporeans breathe too much into the advertisements.

Let's face it, who here watches Singapore idol, Let alone American idol for the talent?? I certainly am watching American Idol to hear the comments that Simon has to say and i particularly enjoy watching the auditions as you get to see those who have been "decieved" into thinking that they can sing but end up getting the "straight-up" comments from the judges?

And also, the commercials change later in the programme's run up to the finale. Look at season 1, the adverts slowly changed from "Make-fun-of-those-who-can't-sing" to "who-will-be-our-next-singapore-idol-?"

Plus, bottomline: adverts are to entice you to watch the programme. And if it did, then it served it's purpose!! Laughing

    • Yes, i am, it’s more like omnivore cuz i consume vegetables too. Isn’t that what all humans are?? We consume meat and vegetables to provide us with a balance, without one of them our body will be that much weaker.

    • first of all, I wouldn't say i'm an animal lover but i do not condone and respect those who treat animals with cruelty.

second, my question, i happen to chance upon the pages of the sunday times lifestyle (26 march 06) and i saw the pictures of the reader's pets. That got me thinking of a question that i would like to post to you guys.

If you like animals, Why do you have to pay to buy them?? You would have just taken care of strays... it's not like there aren't enough strays to go around. Plus, doing that would have eased the "burden" on the SPCA. So answer me, give me what you got. Cuz, i'm sick of hearing "oh i love animals! So-and-so is cruel to them..." (For crying out loud!)

On a separate issue, i heard my friend comment on a bad exprience with the SPCA. He said that once there was an accident on the roads and a motionless cat was lying on the ground (probably the casualty of the accident). his sister saw the cat and called the SPCA, all the personal at the SPCA said was "kick the cat to check if it's alive..."

Talk about Prevention of Cruelty to Animals!! Laughing Laughing Rolling Eyes

      *EDIT: Mis-spelled sister*

    • Definition of welfare:

Welfare is financial assistance paid by the government to certain groups of people who are unable to support themselves, perhaps due to unemployment, disability or some other reason. Assistance may also take form of other relief, such as tax credits.

Should singapore become a welfare state?? what are your views?? Wink

    • thanks so much for these advice... but really if i were to take B chinese, will i still have 6 or 5 subjects? cuz if it is 5, Jc's comfirm out....

And above all, judging by wht i see, CI has completely lost the race. but what i have yet to read is the real reason why. I would want to persue mass com in future so which path is better? JC, or POLY?

and i do see the down side of JC, If you are not able to enter Uni, A level cert is nothing. But in oly, you are on your own and you have to be the top 5 % to enter uni.

does anyone know, how the poly system works? how many courses do you have to take?? someone shed some light on that, please! Embarassed Laughing

there are many reports where the ITE students have won their poly counterparts in jobs...

so does it mean that Uni is the best and ITE is the worst? If you think so,you might want to do some self-thinking

      Cheers[/b]

You can, i'm sure, reason why the society labels it as bad, Have you seen many ITE students come out with a bright future?? Have you seen anyone from ITE earning just enough for their family? Have you seen ITE Students holding managerial persitions?? To put it in a nut shell, the society generalizes on these stuff, although the society might not be right but, that's the image the school is creating, or rather showing to the whole of singapore.... Although one bad doesn't make all bad, but, the society sees it as true and all you need is just afew black sheeps to make the rest the same...
For me i guess it's also good that you dislike your class, like that, you can empower yourself to focus on your goal, keep telling yourself: "work hard and get out of this place" when you have too many friends, you tend to slack, cause friendship like all other relationships demands your time and concern...

    • This is meant as a comment or personal opinion....
I'm sure everyone has read the forum page or read these forum threads and i have came a cross really nonsensical respondses...
Is it because singaporeans like us do not know anything outside of our books? Or is it because us singaporeans are just contributing to the noise by saying or telling facts and opinions already in the news?? Or is it purely because, the government does not permit us to speak about some "awful truths" ???
and I have came across my friends not knowing what is happening in the world outside... I'm a teen and i atleast have a grasp of what is happening in the world today... many of our teenagers today are very narrow minded and they don't see the big picture... If you were to walk up to a random teenager on the strets, and ask them about the medan air crash, you'll more or less get this answer: "Huh? What's That?", "What Medan Air crash?". and when you question if he/she ever watches the news, you might very well get these answer: " *cheeky laugh* No, never", "Got! I Got Read Newspaper! (Probably the life section)" or even "Oh sorry, maybe not in yesterday's paper". It's intresting how teenagers react, they don't care about what is happening out side and perhelps it's becauseof their pride, they lie that they do...

In conclusion, the questions that i want to post to you forumers is.......:
Do you agree that teens today are narrowminded?
Do you agree that some singaporeans are just purely "contributing to the noise"
Would you encourage talking about world news / politics/ religion almong you friends??
And off cause do say whatver you want... just no nonsnsical opinions... Thanks Twisted Evil Wink
