running marathon and look for shoe? I figure you have not been running much.
There are specialist shoe shop in Penisula and Funan and Marina, but i find Novena is a better option.
try out the shoes shop in Novena Square, most of the shoes shop representative there are equip with answer to your shoe query.
Do remember to tell the sale person you are doing 42km, as most probably you will be recommend to get 1 or 1/2 size bigger.
Bring along a old pair of sneakers along to the shoe shop. Be prepare to do some running on the treadmill while trying out the shoe...so get the proper attire and no heavy food before going up to Novena.
The most popular around is Asics, New Balance and Nike for long distance running.
I assume you are not doing off trail/cold weather(snow) marathon...which require shoe of different type.
Price wise in Singapore is pretty standard...as for discount, you might be getting from 20-50% off the retail depend on what brand and which shops and lobang you can find.

Injure is part and parcel of doing extra long distance event. Nobody are devoid of injure, whether you are fast or slow. The different is some get more of their share than other.
speed is relative. Slow or fast depend on individual.
Why bother about what other say? U know ur reason to run at that pace, no matter fast or slow.

well done to those that completed.
If you have not train better don't go unless you intend to walk(anyway scsm is one of those(rare event) that don't have any cutoff timing). Not enough training isn't the world will come to the end, just that you might get injure during the process or take longer time to recover.
train well for next event.

That leaves me with lunch time to work out. 20-30minutes in the gym before a quick lunch and back to work. Is that a good idea?
workout during lunch time is great. at least it keep me from falling asleep after lunch.

OT is a damper, but at times can't be help.
No time in the morning and evening. What is left(if noon time is deliberately skip)? It is rest day.

OK, a word of caution about jogging / running - you are actually putting a lot of impact on your joints each time you run / jog because each time your foot hits the ground, your joints have to absorb an impact equivalent to FOUR TIMES your body weight!
I've been telling kops this forever but he wouldn't listen. Anyways, here's an excerpt from a website :
For an example, a person walking normally and weighing 63 kg. (140 pounds) will hit the ground with their body weight plus 20 percent or 75 kg. (168 pounds) per square inch of impact force. The same person running well, but not sprinting and not jogging will land with an impact force of about three times that of their walking force or in this case 225 kg. (504 pounds) per square inch of impact force. When a person jogs slowly they reduce the body's ability to handle impact and at the same time has increased the amount of weight bearing impact it has to handle. [b]Jogging slowly has a loading force of about four times that of walking or in this case 300 kg. (672 pounds) per square inch of loading force. A training error is running slowly to warm up. Overtime it will create degenerative changes to your knee, pelvis and spine.
