Hey man, I studied in the Peninsula Campus at Monash ! used to stay at the student hostel along 1A Bloom Street ! U staying in the student hostel or the houses along Bloom ?
Anyway try to becareful around in Frankston. During my studies there, I have seen drug addicts getting high in toliets and walking ard with needles sticking out of their arms.
Other than that, your heading into winter and i doubt you will be hitting the beach.. Do spend time go travel up to Mornington Peninsula to pluck straw berries and visit the jam factory.
As for shopping here, I think the bear and most of the folks have mentioned the whole works. However spend time at Chapel & Richmond if you want to buy fashion stuff or Smith Street for the gd old Nike & Addidas Warehouse stores !
As for food, go to Springvale and try the Pho there. It's heaven as compared to the thinly flavoured versions found in singapore.

Hi guys,
I'm taking delivery of my car over this wkend, and I have plans to get solar film done on my car.
Like to know if anyone have gotten their film installed by the above shop ? I googled them off the internet and they seem prompt with their answers & their workshop looks credible with dust free rooms and warranties for the installation.
Any one had experiences good or bad with their installation/workmanship, aftersales services etc. Do feel free to share.
However I want to seek some opinions on from the forum community on this outlet. If there are any other shops that you guys brought your beloved rides to get the solar film done. Do feel free to share.

Now i am working with my diploma in electronics outside
We should stand up and say something to MOE
make the Whole Sec 5 population and alumni heard in singapore!!!Just an update. Among my classmates, our class have the following
Corporate bankers with Citibank & UBS, 2 working in consulting firms (American MNC, level 1 firms ) several engineers & a pastor.
However I have to say that ultimately its up to the individual on the groud to decide what he wants in life. So that shook most of us up into the jobs we got.
The last I heard of one of my classmate who is dealing in scrap metal, his stable of cars include a F430 & the 997 Turbo. Oh yes, he finished his O levels and started out on his own with $10,00 from his dad.
Will A listers make it in life ? Well, perhaps they get to secure the 1st job interview with their results and testimonials. Once he starts working, some of this A Listers have much to learn in terms of character and reality checks.

Yup 10 SIB. He became BDE Comd in May/June 2003 IRC
When did he move up as Commander 9 DIV ? When i ORDed Nov 2003, it was BG Neo Kian Hong then.
Just a side note, have you been to the Officers Mess at 9 Div ? If you ever read the plaque of the past commanders, our ex CDF LG Lim Chuan Poh was at the helm of 9 Div for 9 mths only, before moving up
He did not talk too much to us, mostly on prep and Bn level stuff to prepare us for our ATEC and grooming us officers to noe Bn level SOPs at a command level.
Pretty interesting though. He is also quite a no-nosense guy. He quizzed our ATGM PC where will he site his weapons on the map, the PC pointed to a particular square and circled that area, he retorted back to the poor YSL " Look I tell your CO where to capture by drawing an circle on this square, your CO tells your OCs to capture which objectives in that square, so where do u think you should be telling me where EXCATLY you should be siting your weapons ?"

He was my BDE Commander when I was serving my NS back in 2003. His prep talks for our unit's ATEC then left a lasting impression on me.
Very sharp and analytical person. His methods of analysis for trends and possible course of actions is indepth and through.
And yes, he is a high flier. One that sits a rocket ship. Most senior officers back then are putting their money down for him to be the next COA

This is the kind of situation that new car buyers should consider. You dont want the face value of your car to depreciate faster than its monetary value.haa, thats one of the motivations to head down to VW !

hmm , depends though. A Lancer EX 1.5 on a 7 year loan is around $700 (installment only), provided a $10,000 downpayment. A Jetta is monthly is ard $970 on similar terms.
So you drive an Lotus Exige ?

The Jetta will be my first car

At this very moment, it's still ticking merrily away on my watch winder.Hmm .... i survived on a $20 casio for my NS stint. My secondary school buddy who was a CDO as well, also survived his stint with a similar casio.
Have to agree on the G-Shocks. Their rubber casings are all that stands between the watch and mother nature. My S3 once wore a G-Shock for a field exercise for 4 days and during the 4th day morning, we had to swim across some mini stream in Mandai, after the swim, his watch was waterlogged and apparently the rubber casing came loose and allowed water to go in.
He was cursing and swearing as it was bought only like 3 mths before. He wore back his old Seiko Divemaster and the rest was history.
Ged, just a question, have you seen any one in your unit using a rolex as a real military tool watch ? I used my Sinn 156 last yr in my ICT, pretty interesting and fun to use. However I'm toying with the idea of getting a pre-owned Tudor for my future ICT. Any comments or advise ? PM me if required !

dont know is it me or what, but i feel in a way that schools no matter what, are always biased towards the top students .. like they make it sound like only express stream students are smart students n those in the normal stream = cmi. sad. hais.
nvm, at least we stand up for ourselves, work hard and prove them wrong~ haha.
jiayou Resentment!
no worries, the biasness ends in school,
i have 2 2nd upper analyst working under me who graduated with flying colors from the local education system and yet to provide a viable solution for the client's issue at work. And they have been at work for the past 9 mths and yet still unable to grasp the requirements.

But i got a private diploma now , and now i am taking advanced diploma and after my ns i am going to australia to take my degree. I am taking sports management right now , and i am going to take my degree in sports management in australia. From here , i have prove to the teachers that they are wrong , we are just not academically-inclined , and most of my friends now are doing very well in ITE. And they are all working hard ton get into poly. For other normal academic classes in my school , they are still waiting for their result , but from what i see , there will be more ppl who will end up failing their o lvls. cos my school , they are more biased against the first 2 classes of normal academic , and they don't care about the 3rd class of normal academic as there are 3 classes of normal academic class in my school. So those who fail their N lvl , pls do not think , ur world already ends , and that u got no more future , let me tell u guys , this is just the beginning of the chapter of your life , your future will be bright if you work hard. good luck to u guys.
Good Luck Dude. Just let the comments that your teacher lay to rest. He is just being narrow minded.
I'm from the Normal Academic Stream previously. Most of the teachers in school did give us a 2nd glance. We did not give a shitz either.

Yes you are correct that you start a new chapter in your life. But remember is your own actions and determination will mould whom you are.
Some of my closest friends since then have become architects, private bankers with leading foreign banks, Consultants & engineers with leading American MNCs.

And during our initial independent days, aren't our men in weak condition???riots and full of gangster in a chaotic mess?? If u want me to take back my words, you should go back to history.
Of course SAF have to diversify itself to gain better economy of scale, and even if they manage to outreach to countries to learn or buy equipment from, these countries are allies of US too. Why don't we buy MiG fighter, why don;t we buy AK rifes best in the world by Discovery channel, and lastly, why dun SAF march like the Kremlin or Beijing armies do??Everyone in Asia were fighting the communist insurgency in Indonesia & Malaya and as well as Vietnam (which the US tried and fail)
Our men were not weak during the 1960s, but rather not able to fight off the communist insurgency in Malaya/Singapore. The English were rather busy fighting them in malaya as well. So please get your comparisons right once again.
I do believe the weapons & armies you mentioned are/were part of the Red Tide/Eastern Bloc armies. The SAF used to use FN FAL which was too Belgium made before being replaced by the AR-15 which was american made and designed and suited more to the Asian build.
How about a little pop quiz : Which Army did the SAF adopt the military heritage and etiquette from ?

Your honor, this one-niner is really running out of forty-niner burgers, how can today SAF helmet follow the WWII German one? Today helmet are made of light weigh material (plastic) and not some cast iron metal steel of the old WWII type. And it is the instruction of the American to ask Israel to first train the Singapore weak men to be soldier by providing arms and equipment, because in geopolitical speaking, Singapore condition do resemble Israel where it is surrounded by Muslim countries.
Even the Air forces and navies bought their aircrafts and ships from the American, or at least consulted the American if SAF budget is too low for modern crafts. You have F16, F15, M16, GBMG, etc etc are from the US. Most of the Rangers, pilot and even commando are trained in US too, if I am not wrong?
Have u seen US submarine in Sembawang Naval Base?? I am not saying SAF copied the US, I am saying SAF is adopting the US style, their hierrachy system, reporting system, training system and even communication system.
I do recalled using the word Design and not materials used. Of course manufacturing process will improve with times.
I hope you take back the word weak singaporean men back. The very fact that an ordinary singapore is being called on to don a military uniform, bear arms and be ready always is not weak in my opinion. Did your dad do NS ?
The GBMG is called the General Purpose Machine Gun, and it was purchased from the Belgians initially.
When you mentioned adopted system, are you referring to technology or how the SAF will conduct a military operation ?
Lastly, we don't just train with the US troops for starters, there are other armed forces out there whom we , the SAF would train with and learn from.
Mods, do kindly lock this thread if OPSEC pertaining to US Naval presence is deemed as too sensitive to be discussed here.
