    • I'm currently in poly yr3, graduating in Feb 2009 and I'm assuming that I'll be enlisting in July 2009(according to my seniors).

Ok heres the qns, during the period from Feb - June am I allowed to take short term overseas courses and stay there all the way till my enlistment date where I return to SG for enlistment?

Where do I write in to apply for permission IF I'm allowed to study overseas during this short period?

    • yes, basic cardio like jogging, but the distance are from 6-10km. As i've read up on the net that long distance running burns your muscles. So how "long" is it considered long?

    • As of the topic above, what are some of the methods for weight loss and minimal loss of mucles. Apart from HIIT(high intensity interval traning) are there other ways?

Looking for some variation in my training regimen.

    • Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Please comment.

Can anyone help me interpret this sentence, especially the phrase in bold...

      Thanks in advance...

    • why does everyone says that its luck?

In the first place you have to work hard for chances to happen, and when a chance come if you're capable to take it, than you deserve it. Luck wouldnt just come to you, while you have to work hard to earn it.

For chelsea case, they worked hard, chances came, however they are not capable of taking it. e.g. hitting the woodwork isnt unlucky, its just that they arent good enough to take the shot from that angle or they are being pressured thus the shot was poorly taken.

    • Seriously fark those cheena people... Whats the percentage of singaporeans compared to foreigners are in the national team? Can it still be called national team? Or cheena team? Or foreign talent (FT) team?

I rather singapore not win any medals in sports, than having cheena people winning medals for us...

    • I would say every gym is air conditioned now...

however you do not have to be a member to go to the gym, juz pay per use(around $2.50) where you can find them at the community centre, there wouldnt be any personal trainer however there will be an instructor there to ensure that no1 gets injured in the gym.

if you're looking for a gym with better equipments and facilities and with personal trainer, theres always higher end gyms like california fitness.

    • Thx for all the replies,

In gym sessions i do (squats and deadlifts) these are the 2 exercises that i do during gym sessions that involves knee movements,

Yeah i do HIIT, but on the 5th min mark my knee starts to hurt.

The knee problem started 2wks ago when i was in Japan, and for no known particular reason it just hurt, but recovers after afew days, however back in SG when i resume my training, the same spot hurts again and persist till now.

Ya i'll get it checked by doctors, but still i have the phobia of the doctor saying stop doing all exercises as theres a problem with your knee, or u need an operation to fix it.

So, any suggestions for alternative exercises that can help maintain your body fats.

    • I'm not a professional athlete, and my main objective for exercising is for health benefits and its become part of my lifestyle. My training regimen would be gym twice a week, swim once a week and run twice a week.

Recently theres some problems with my knee and everytime i run for more than 5mins it starts to hurt, thus i'm thinking of removing running from my training, but without running i'm afraid that my body fat will increase. Swimming might be a good alternative but its too time consuming as the travelling time to the nearest pool takes quite a while.

So i would like to ask is there any alternative exercises that i can do, to maintain my body fat at a healthy level?

    • TS shld juz get banned... its juz a virtual forum why do u care so much? who cares if he gets demoted? as long as his been giving logical advise and not abusing his powers in the forum i dont see why he shld be demoted. (personally i've been following the story juz that i didnt comment)

i'm not saying his right for the things he had done but if its in the real world dan leave it to the police.. i dont see the point of grumbling over such matters online and creating a scene here.

and users have to have atleast alittle common sense and know that its at ur own risk if u meetup with ppl online and know how to protect urself against strangers if u decide to meet up.

    • I was once game addict too... so crazy over games
guess the only way would be to find a new hobby for urself..
e.g. sports? im-ing with frds? or juz hangout with frds..

going into cold turkey wouldnt help much.. as the temptation will still be there.. so the best way would be to direct ur interest to some other stuff..

btw how old are u? still school-ing?

    • Its life cycle.... didnt u learn it in pri sch?
      humans>cow>grass
predator & prey to have a balance to the ecosystem on earth.....
      and this goes on..

back to wad you said abt pets... people do keep exotic animals as pets do they look cute? i doubt so... it all boils down to personal preference...

      SO STOP ASSUMING....
      because when u assume....
u make an ass out of u and me(or i would say forumites)

i would say crunches would be more effective than sit-ups, and doing sit-ups may hurt ur back. However doing crunches/sit-ups would not help get rid of your tummy it only tones up ur abdomen muscles, so in order to get rid of fats you have to do cardio exercises like jogging/swimming these exercises would burn your overall body fats thus helps to get rid of your belly fats.
