when booking for any TP tests(theory and practical) or even enrolling with driving centres...they will specify as a requirement that U dont have 12 demerit points and above and is not expected to be slapped with 12 points and above...if U lie and they find out...U kiss ur licence goodbye and U can appear in court again.False declaration of information.
No licence to kantong in the first place is not an issue..even learner drivers with PDL...say...they beat the red light...12 points....it will be on record and added to the driving licence when the person passes...so no such thing as no licence to kantong =no responsibility hor...
Wah, so if a learner driver beat red light and get 12 points, then he pass the driving test. His provisional license would be automatically suspended the day he pass as new license drivers cannot get more than 12 points in the first year of passing? Just wondering.

According to the report, his brother is a SIA pilot which is now in Australia for training. It was reported he start driving his brother's car the past few months but we do not know when his brother is posted abroad. Cannot say his brother condore his action as we do not have the whole picture.

Me :)
Born Cantonese but got a very big boost in the dialect when I studied in Canada. Mixed with HKer mostly and speak cantonese all the time till a point if I don't identify myself as a Singaporean, they would think I am from HK. Once I told a HKer I am Singaporean, he insist that I am HKer migrated over to Singapore.

My DSLR flash gun can do even more than that, like firing off a series of flashes in quick succession. It is rated effective up to 56meters. Imagine doing that to oncoming traffic in a dark road. So the govt have to ban camera flash light.

Feel like it is a bit over parionoid. To recall everyone back for search etc. Thunderflash and blanks used to be those ammo that can be used in exercises outside live firing area. Remember last time when the news on Sunday would announce certain areas would have SAF activities for the week, they always include: "Blanks and Thunderflashes may be used". Those areas announced includes rural areas that still have functioning villages and open to the general public. Yup, it is wrong to take it out on your own, sort of like stealing SAF property. But to say till like taking out very dangerous explosive seems more like a case of over sensationising by the press.

Wondering, after the SAF officially adopt the new No. 4, are we allow to wear the old uniform as we like? As of now, we are not allow to wear the present No. 4 if not going to camp or on official duty. But once the SAF adopts the new No.4, is there still control on the usage of the old uniform? Find that especially the present SAF pants very good for bashing into forested areas. I won't mind wearing it when going treking in Pulau Ubin or Bukit Timah if it is allowed. Not trying anything funny here, just trying to find out if allow, then can wear, if not allowed, then dun wear lor. Thanks

From my limited knowledge, hollywood mines only blow up when lifting the weight off the mine, so can have more time for dramatic scenes and chance for the hero to escape. But a lot of real world mines would blow up once the trigger is pressed. No chance to be even aware of what had happened.

With this reply, I have decided not to waste time on this thread anymore. Cus this guy already fixed on what he wants to hold true and whatever other says that is not in line of his belief, it will be rejected. He has already closed the discussion with his reply. This thread will turn into another of those drag on till kingdom comes thread. Bye...

Firstly, we can't afford it. We only have one city, able to support such the present arm forces of such size and technology is already a rather impressive achievement. To have a carrier battle group, we still need to built up a lot more things like the escorts, the logistics framework etc. Nowadays cost of living are already so high, I don't think we want GST, ERP and all sort of taxes getting any higher.
Secondly, we do not have such manpower. One aircraft carrier alone needs about the entire present RSN size crew. We would rather have more of our people out in the civilian workforce generating money into the country's economy then to have most of them stuck in the armed forces. If everyone is in the armed forces, where will the money come from?
Remember, the baseline is that we are really a extremely tiny nation. All these cost money and the cost would eventually comes back to the tax payers, which is us, the 4 million people with zero natural resources. Perhaps if you can play a old computer game call "civilsation", you could understand the advantage of having a lot of cities in a country each taking care of certain sector, generating money and enforcing each other compared to just one city trying to do everything at the same time. Though it is just a computer game and the real world is much more complicated, but it will give you an idea of survival on a country level.

Grew up in the 70's. Grew up downtown near Bugis. Bugis was a permanent pasir malam with very good food. Remember one old lady selling the best Hakkar Shun Kuey I have tasted so far. Down town streets used to be filled with people and food stalls. People all over the streets but when cars turn in, somehow ppl will automatically move aside and the car will be able to find a way through. Use to go Chinatown during weekends and watch how they slaughter giant pythons and skin bats. Watch the still beating hearts of halved turtles waiting to be sold. National day stand by the roadside and see troops matching by, then adults telling me when I grow up, have to be in the army too. At night watch shows like Hawaii 5 Os, Six million dollar man, Lesie(sp?) and Combat. Favourite song at that time was "Country Road".
Later went to school at the the suburbs. Although one of the SAP schools, but behind school is a kumpong. So it is not study and study all the time. Everyday after school, catch fishes in a small drain behind school that is draining water out from a nearby cementary. Catch grasshoppers and spiders too. Or collect rubber seeds to burn each other. Top floor of school used to give a view of endless green hills as far as the eyes can see. Now is all HDB flats. School ground was divided into Wudang, Shoulin etc and occupied by different groups and had our daily fights, cus those were the most popular HK serials aired in the evenings during that time. Heard the news of South Vietnam and Cambodia overran and rememeber hearing adults talking if they will overtake Thailand, Malaysia and eventually Singapore also. To them, it is real possible cus the Japanese occupation happened not that long ago. During the 80's, during the height of cold war, everynight news were about nuclear missles here and there, had accepted the fact that we could all just die at the blink of an eye if either the US or USSR decides to launch their missles. Favourite TV show then was battlestar galatical.
It's fun to grow up thru the 70's and 80's. Hee

Reminds me of a platoonmate last time, booked out on Sat from Jurong Camp, boarded the MRT at Boon Lay, home was in Pasir Ris or Tampinese. He fell asleep on the train and when he woke up, he's back in Boon Lay. Made a whole round trip.
Have to continue the ride back to Pasir
Ris/Tampinese again...Dunno how many hours he actually spent for
that trip.
As if Singapore very big like that.Edited by cairocks 05 Apr `08, 12:03PM
