    • No COE and three quarter petrol filling ruling for Singapore registered cars going across to JB.

    • Satay Club at the Esplanade.

    • The old Bugis Street night life. Many Singaporeans and international tourists would patronize for seafoods etcs, drinking, bargain shopping. It was a famous place for tourists to dine and take photographs with transvestites…something like at Bangla Road in Phuket (Phuket is better of course).

    • The SAF NCO Club at Beach Road.

    • Disco and New Wave Songs.

    • Popular Cantonese language dramas like ‘MAN IN THE NET’ were shown over channel 8.

      2. War of Words between Singapore’s PM Lee Kuan Yew and Malaysia’s PM Mahathir Mohamad.

    • 1. VHS video cassettes and video players.

      2. Audio tape cassettes and cassette players.

      3. Walkman music players.

    • Adrian Lim’s murder case. (My Eurasian girlfriend was staying in the same Blk 12 at Toa Payoh. If I’m not mistaken, the veteran Malay singer Rahima Rahim, her sister and parents stayed in that same block too )

    • The old Sungei Road whereby you can buy second hand goods in good condition still on bargain.

    • No internet and no mobile phones. Families, relatives and friends, and girlfriends had more quality time like intermingle with one another and communicate with one another in person more though we had home telephone line and pager.

    • Beer Garden at Clifford Pier.
