    • MM LEE (in Bahrain), in response to a participant who wanted to know who was the one who came up with the ideas for Singapore’s development.  Mr Lee said that it was a team effort:

“If you want to create great music, you cannot have a three-piece band.  You need an orchestra, minimum 60 players.  To be the Prime Minister, you don’t have to know every instrument.

“But you have to recognize ah, he’s a good violinist, he will be the first violinist, he will be the double bass, he will play the viola, he will have the trumpet, he will do the drums.  Then you coordinate them and then you have great music.”

And if you already have a great orchestra, you can put a dummy there and you still got great music.”

    • I think his statement about 3 pcs band cannot produce good music is wrong. i am not surprise that the only music he listen to is classical music.

    • I think Lee Kuan Yew is ignorant of the mentality of the younger generation of people.

He should step down and make way for others.

That is the sign of a wise leader.

Deng Xiao Ping also stepped down and held no official government post.

So scared of losing power, this Lee Kuan Yew.

    • .. dumb ass.. he doesn't know jack sh|t about music...

... musicians in general, regardless of which instruments he/she plays exclusively, are ABLE to play a few other instruments as well... even Conductors can usually play a few instruments as well, apart from the piano being their major...

... he's going around bragging, babbling all this - what the hell for??

    • LKY has never played in an orchestra, so he doesn't know at all the importance of the conductor. You need a good conductor for the orchestra to play well. A dummy just can't do it.

    • I think a better way of putting the message across to the Arabs will be to use a football team as an example.

If you want to win a football match, you need to have the full 11 players. You need strikers, midfielders, defenders, a strong captain and the goalkeeper.

Once you have that first 11 going, even without a manager, the team will still be able to play good football.

      :D

MM Lee will put it this way, even with a “dummy manager”, the team will still be able to play good football.

I do not think so.  It is people like us who try to meddle things up.

Why do you want him to shut up while you can get entertained with what he has to say.

Need to qualify.  If the violinist thinks he is better, will be play louder then the pianist.  If the pianist cocked up the conductor went missing.  If you don't have good players, just play the music on the background and pretend to perform.
