Can boys wear checkered underwear to school?

  One fine day, while i am waiting for bus, i saw a school boy waiting for bus in front of me. He's wearing school uniform, white shirt and white pants. But i saw some checkered pattern (black and white) on his buttock there. I tot new pattern of school pants... then i heard two girls giggling beside me... sound very cheeky... then i know that the guy wear checkered underwear under his white school pants... I just wondered can boys wear checkered or even red, orange, yellow underwear to school when their school shorts and pants are white?
